A New MMO? Oh noe!!

As if one addiction wasn't enough, as if I don't spend much time on WoW as is, Blizzard has decided to steal more of my life (and money) and work on the next gen MMO *http://www.massively.com/2007/12/07/...-blizzard-mmo/*

The link also leads you to the blizz forums where a blue says its not bout a WoW expansion! My guess is that they will try to do something related to starcraft ghost, lost of blasting and loads of pvp, am kinda hoping for a Diablo 3 before any new MMO comes out, i just love the diablo universe or perhaps a mix heck i don't know but Diablo and WoW seem a bit alike, barbarians/warriors assasins/rouges necros/locks etc..

What do you think blizzard would do?

Three answers:

What I expect

My bet is a Diablo-style (not Lore actually) MMO, probably focussed on even more casual gaming, action RPG, Hellgate London style. Legend could be all, Warcraft, Starcraft, or Diablo or even a new franchise. Everything but Warcraft isn't very detailed yet, so we will see. PvP focus indeed, too. Even with pre-mades... *yawn*

What I fear

World of Warcraft 2. I don't think they would do it yet, as there is so much potential for expansions. But a full reset would be something many would enjoy though. Not me :-)...

What I dream of

Starcraft Universe. I always wanted the endless bounds of EVE in my MMO. Only that you have different and permanent worlds in the WoW-size that could be generated by some fractal algorithms, it's not rocket science. Each planet is a server, the universe is shared in between. This unlimited space type of game in addition to MMORPG would be my thing, I DOES though collide with the heavy usage authored content (rep rewards, events) like it is in WoW now.
I love exploring and this is something that ends far too quickly in WoW. I do know the issues of thousands of authored world therefore I suggest semi-automated and user-created (within severe limits indeed) content to make up for that.

Id 'love to see either a starcraft mmo or a diablo mmo. I've been a major fan of both games (especially starcraft. Had that since it came out 10 years ago).

A starcraft mmo would be interesting. i'd like to see how they'd do the zerg in a way that interesting and balanced and yet not counter-productive to the zerg lore.
(although at least then we we zerg the opponent in pvp we'd have a reason :p )

I think it could be a diablo mmo cos they something like that in the pipeline but due fundings they put it on hold. Don't think it will be starcraft cos there's already a new starcraft coming out.

But the possibility's are endless...

But the thing about starcraft is that there are no heros except for the main characters, there is no Zergling of Doom or something like that, they might make it something like Renegade i think? you have basses and you have to destroy the enemies base or omsething like that.

Am still hoping for Diablo 3, an MMO with a story line or maybe WoW 2, that could be it, knowing blizzards timeline with releasing things this could go on till 2011
