Asheron's Call jolts to life online in Europe

Jolt Online Gaming to distribute and operate Turbine's games in the EU.

Turbine Entertainment, publisher of the online PC games Asheron's Call and Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings, announced today that Jolt Online Gaming Ltd., an independent European online gaming network, will henceforth be the exclusive distributor, operator, and customer support provider for the two games in Europe.

While Turbine had previously partnered with another vendor in Europe who provided local network servers for Asheron's Call 2, this is the first time that players of both the sequel and its predecessor will have local servers and local customer support. Previously, European gamers had no other option but to play Asheron's Call on North American servers.

Asheron's Call was originally published in 1999 by Microsoft. Asheron's Call 2, which launched in 2002, was the first-ever sequel to a 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Westwood, Massachusetts-based Turbine acquired the property from Microsoft earlier this year.

“Online gaming continues to grow in Europe, and we recognize the importance of Europe in our future,” said Jeff Anderson, president and CEO of Turbine. “Jolt is the best choice to provide European players with the same levels of access, connectivity, and customer support that our North American players enjoy."

I hope Blizzard recognizes this too, e.g. give us the BETA, arrrgghhh

Honestly though I'd like to play on US servers.
