Disconnects all over

I'm having a huge problem. I recently had to buy a new computer and have installed WoW, The Burning Crusade, Patch 2.3 and the latest patch. Since then, I've been getting disconnected frequently - usually I get between 5 and 30 minutes playing time. Strange thing is, just seconds after I get disconnected I can relog and play for another 5-30 minutes with no latency issues at all. My computer runs on Vista, has 2GB RAM, a 1.5GHz Core2 Duo, and I use a wireless router. My wireless drivers are up to date and so is the routers firmware. The router is NOT set to relog at any time.

Please help. This is getting annoying as I can't do group quests or dungeons because of this.

Re: Disconnects all over

Is it just WoW, or all internet applications? I just had this exact problem as well with my internet connection...had the cable company check everything, and it turned out that my cable modem was bad; old and outdated. Installed and new one and everything is great.

Re: Disconnects all over

Is your wireless router providing a DHCP IP for you? If so, check the lease time. Some default DHCP lease times are an hour or less (no idea why) and the renegotiation of the IP for your PC "may" be causing a problem.

Alternatively, do you have in the immediate vicinity any devices which might interfere with the wireless signal? Something which might cut in and out randomly. e.g. wireless router sitting on top of a bar fridge.

We had a client who was complaining of extremely weak signal on his wireless, couldn't even leave his office. Turned out they had a wireless TV feed going from their tv room to an upstairs room. Turning off the wireless TV feed and suddenly he could sit out at his pool and use his laptop with perfect reception.

Re: Disconnects all over

The internet seems to run fine with only occasional disconnects - usually if it has been runnign for a long time. I have a netgear router and it was running fine until a couple of weeks ago.

Nothing has changed since then, it is still in the same place (on the floor) and isn't near any electrical equipment.

I found the DHCP issue when I first got the router 5-6 months ago and corrected it so I know that isn't the problem.

I have posted on the WoW forums and it seems that a lot of people are having this problem, I think all of them are in the UK. It's something at Blizz's end but they really don't want to admit it. Looks like my first run to Hellfire Ramparts will have to wait...

Re: Disconnects all over

Since 2.3 my old computer has the same problem during playing wow. BUt only it didn't DC but i got a latency above 10K ... alot. But now i changed to a newer computer and its way better. But i still think its patch 2.3 because before i had NO problem what so ever. My latency was 60 wireless, now its 140 or so... strange :S hope blizzard fixes this asap!

Re: Disconnects all over

I just found an info about the lag issues on mmo-champ.
(scroll down on the mainpage to find the information)

It might help some of you UNTIL the new patch wille be applied (as mentioned, this fix will be integrated into the next patch)

Re: Disconnects all over

delete your WTF and WDB folder in the wow directory, delete all you addons and reinstall the latest versions of the addons you use.
this helps in 99% of issues of lags and disconnects.

You're on thunderhorn aren't you?

Heh, seriously though, there's been widespread outage on my server too. We were trying to learn high king maulgar and half the raid goes offline. Typical, all sitting in vent still though. It's not just UK, it's just english speaking EU servers. The whole cyclone battlegroup had issues this week, though naturally they were all fixed several hours before I could get on to thunderhorn. They admitted that though.
