best keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo?

im getting a new kybrd mse and msepad wondering what everyone uses/recomends. i have been using the microsoft kybrd mouse n pad my alienware came with not too bad but looking to upgrade...

keyboards-
right now i have my eyes on razrs stuff...real nice looking but i really do not like how flat the keys are i cant hit the lft ctrl key with the middle of my pinkie finger i need keys that stick out,... merc stealth? maybe.., will prolly get the logitech's g15 thou, anyone have or know which is better the g15 version1 (18 g keys) or the newer g15 version 2 (6 gkeys) opinions?

mice-
again razrs stuff looks real nice, good reviews but they feel very akward too me dunno if i could get used to them ... will prolly again go for logitechs g5 or g9... the g5 looks like it would be very comfortable and alot of great reviews
the g9 has awesome specs but looks a bit awkward not sure

opinions?

mousepads-?
im stuck on this one cant really look online, would need to actually feel it/see it and i dont know what the best surface is called. when i look at gaming pads online i read the specs and dont understand what im looking at...can someone please explain what the different surfaces are called and what they think is best.

i play alot of wow,fps's and rts's
my comp is not new anymore but still good specs

thanks for advice,opinions,and facts

Re: best keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo?

i use a g15 and g9..........

g15 is old one, 18 key. the actual g keys can't be binded like normal for most games ( last checked anyway), there was a mod for wow i think but what i do is make say g15 = ctrl shift alt x and then in wow I would make my run key = ctrl shift alt x. that way when i want to run i press g15 and that's it ( it's an example btw =p ). that would be the only real downside to it imo, aside from the obvious v1 is bigger then v2 but i have no deskspace issue.

i can't say much about g9, i think it's perfect for me, that said some of my friends said it just didn't feel right to them. I guess this is a more personal choice?

aside from wow most of my games are rts... dawn of war, c&c 3 etc

edit: i use some ?foam? mousepad with wrist support, it's a no name brand i got overseas, don't really have special ones, heck i used to use an old uni diary =p

Re: best keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo?

I own both a G5 and a Razer Lachesis. It's kinda a toss up. The Razer is much better for FPS games. The response time is sweet along with the sensitivity. However I find the G5 feels much more fluid for WoW. In the end I use the Razer and keep the G5 at work because the Razer has incredible response and it's just a matter of getting used to the lower profile shape.

Keyboard wise I have a V1 G15 and I love it. I have used the V2 at a friend's house and find I miss the extra G keys. I have seen the Razer but I don't like the feel.

Mouse pad I've used a Fatal1ty pad, a Razer eXact mat and an 2E Icemat.

The fatal1ty is nice because of it's size and if a cloth mat is what you want it is the only of the three that is cloth. I liked it but the movement isn't as responsive and smooth as the others are. The Razer is nice because of the two surfaces and it pairs well with the Razer mice. The control side makes the accuracy of the mouse much better. The speed side makes FPS games outstanding. The Razer is a metal pad with a wrist pad which is nice. If you don't like the pad you don't have to use it but I find the metal to cold with out it. The Icemat is a glass pad which makes me nervous I am going to knock it off and break it. It had the most fluid movement of the three but the fact it was glass always freaked me out so I ended up using the Razer at home and the Fatal1ty at work.

I use a z-board for my keyboard and I remapped the keys the way i like it. I like the feel of the red arrow movement control keys

Re: best keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo?

i´ve got a notebook so just standard keyboard!

BUT i jsut bought me the Razer:Deathadder mouse and the Mousepad Razer exactMat and boy i can tell you how could i ever live without it! it´s like changing from a bus to a 500 horsepower car.
At first i thought i´ll never be able to handle the mousespeed, but now it works like a charm!

What i really like is the placement of Button 4 and 5 on the mouse, they fit perfect! You must test it for yourself before you buy a 60€ mouse!! Just tell the clerk you WANT to test the mouse!

Go for the Razerstuff it is so amazing!

Re: best keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo?

I heart my n52, but many guildies use the g15 and swear by it.

I have a Razer [something] mouse, which is great as well, but its the symetrical one, so the buttons on the right side are impossible to hit without hand gymnastics.
