While I would say avoid Vista like the plague (I have had the liberty of dealing with it at work since it was in beta), I will say this one thing. Microsoft is scheduled to release Service Pack 1 for Vista very soon. Our testing with it at work has found that it actually increased performance over the currently shipping Vista. I only bring this up for those of you that have Vista or have some reason to "need" to use Vista. It may help.
Having said that, Microsoft is also scheduled to release Service Pack 3 for Win XP later this year which is supposed to blow Vista SP1's performance out of the water. I'd stick with XP |
