Re: Allakhazam - What happened?

WoWHead, Thottbot and Allakhazam are all owned by the same company. The people who own that company also own gold selling companies. Technically, they are not owned by gold sellers, just as technically ESPN is not owned by A B C. However, you still see lots of cross promotion. Face it, all our DB are belong to gold sellers.

Re: Allakhazam - What happened?

I barely use that site these days, with the exception of the occasional market avg price on some things for the AH. Since I use the 'questhelper' addon, I have no need to minimize the game.

Agreed on wowdb. Been using it alot and watching it grow. I am becoming more and more pleased with it everyday. Still isn't as "Complete" as the others but missing quests or etc are uncommon enough to overlook it being a "Problem"

The website's following continued to grow, and in June of 2007, Wowhead made the decision to join the ZAM Network, along with other well-known MMO sites Thottbot, Allakhazam, MMOInterface, and Online Gaming Radio.
From Wowhead's own "About us" page. Allakhazam used to be affiliated (not owned) with a gold selling site, if I remember correctly they were bought out by a company that also owned gold selling sites. They no longer are owned by that company, Welcome to ZAM Network the current owner as you can see does not own a gold selling site. Also as you can see they own Thottbot.

EDIT: Gah can't get it to link as a URL, scroll over it to see the url in bottom left hand corner or goto wowhead's about us page is you are distrusting of keyloggers.

Wow, never knew that about Thottbott and Allakhazam. Guess I'll start using Wowdb instead.

Re: Allakhazam - What happened?

Wowhead keeps getting better (Have you -seen- all the filters and stat weighting you can do?!), and it seems like there's enough bad publicity about gold selling that their owners actually have moved out of the business.
