Lag in 25 mans?

Im pretty new to 25 mans and seem to experiencing major lag, this decreases my dps by a large amount. I think its to do with my laptop as my ms is constantly around 35.

I have only 26 addons running most of those ace, around about 26mb is what my addon says.
Since my first few 25 mans ive bein running about 5-8fps compared to normally, i can run around org with around 35-60 fps.
Nothing running in the background except my firewall etc and ventrillo.

I am using a Alienware Aurora m9700
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS graphics card
i have 2gb of ram

I'm just looking for any tips to get this lag sorted anybody got any ideas?
thankyou in advance

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

Check the wow forums, I actually found one solution that helped me a little bit. It involved disabling the WoW launcher so when you enter the game it takes you right to the log in screen (something to do with the launcher .exe not being updated with versions of windows). Also check your internet connection, mine can be horrible sometimes, and that is without using wireless (where I live I guess). Most people have horrible lag/fps in cities like Orgrimmar, Shat, and Ironforge.

Let me know what you find out, as I still get low fps sometimes, and I have the Nvidia 8600GT, dual pentium 2.2 processors, and 2 gigs of RAM. It is frustrating, so I feel your pain.

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

you could change servers and come to Blackrock. At least then you'd know the lag wasnt from your end !!!

some of the 25 mans though have some really low FPS regions compared to 'the real wow world" from memory
certainly troll through the official forums tech section..

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

make sure your not overheating. get inside your laptop (if you know how to) and dust it regularly.

a third way is to just turn down your GFX settings when raiding

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

Lag (Lag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) is not the same as a low fps. If you are lagging, there is little you can do about it (i am constantly around 300-400ms latency and that affects my DPS as well... that's why i needed to get some haste).

If you have low FPS, with your hardware it is probaly caused by buggy addons eating CPU cycles.

Re: Lag in 25 mans?

Make sure you run a defragmentation of your hard drive. Recently I started having massive FPS drops for no apparent reason in raids, heroics, etc. Realized it had been a few months since my last defrag and during that time I had moved quite a lot of files around. Didn't get a look at how fragmented things were but after, things worked very smoothly in WoW
