Re: Now that AoC is out.. Necro/Demo Section?

Yeah, when you watch some of the videos it looks fairly interesting. Definitely not as cartoon-like as WoW. Succubuses are partially nude, gear actually looks somewhat realistic for a medeival mindset. They don't try to make every melee class look like a Power Ranger. Plate actually looks like plate.

The combat mode and mob shielding look like interesting ideas. Basically it looks like they took WoW and tried to make it a little more realistic.

Alas, my PC would never manage it. I suppose it's just as well. I already spend too much time on the computer. I don't need to get sucked into something new.

Re: Now that AoC is out.. Necro/Demo Section?

My first impressions about AOC

I think that a good percentile of AoC players will be ex-players or world of farmcraft, bored or tired.

My fatty wow box, that runs crowded shatt at 45 fps and empty zones at 130fps, runs AoC at 30fps. No comments are needed :/
Graphics is by far more complex in AoC than in Wow, but complex does not means necessarely beautiful. Some places in AoC are astonishing though.

As far as I know leveling at low levels will be fast (you can grind in a 4-5 people a zone for 2 levels in a half an hour at level 20).

AoC Feats (talens) have 3 specs or trees: one is for utility and survivability, 2 are for dps.

For a AoC thread, i am in.
For more info about sinergy between abilities and talents, and for info about the specs tailored for pvp or pve, we have to wait and level more ;P.

It seems that in wow you can choose to level by questing or by grinding, and you have at least 2 zones to level: one easyer, one harder.
In AoC my first impression is that you are forced to level in a already written path: there are less quest, and mobs 2 levels higher than you are incredibly tought and 2 levels lower give few XP.

I don't think i will quit wow for aoc. At least for now.

More info to come.

Succy part:
My succy (first pet) is barely naked, a little fatty, and does a crap spell that explodes on a single target (after let's say 5 secs of doing nothing) for a very little damage. And gives the party a passive buff for +mana.
Useless at low level 10.

but....

I picked up AoC this past weekend and it is by far alot more fun to play than WoW. I guess I am just burnt on WoW, but AoC is a total breath of fresh air.
I cancelled my WoW account (till Lich King prob) to play AoC.

If you have a fatty machine, and are looking for something different and new, this def pick this up. The graphics and gameplay are pretty solid, especially for a launch.

I hope this game does well. It will not dethrone WoW, but it will def pull a few million of WoW players...

And to answer your question....I would go Demo
I too have been playing since release of WoW. I love the lore, the game play, the community here, and my guild community. The guild and community is what kept me playing after all these years. The game was a social hub for me. Kinda like the AoL of MMOs

I never expected AoC to be a WoW killer, both games are fun. It was just time for me to move on after playing WoW for several years, it long ago lost that "new and exciting" feeling.

Too late! I already played a Necro to 40. I've got a Demo buddy I run around with, we both have some pretty nice aoe spells and decimate groups of mobs.

Some amazing ideas have been slated for AoC in the future. I can't wait till they add them.

What server are you playing on? I am on the SET server. Toon is Kurmit. If you are on the same server and need some help, or want to group hit me up!

I would do what ever you have fun doing. If you are getting sick of WoW and need a break, AoC might be something to kick start your love of games again. Than again you might not like the game and you wasted $49.99? I would give you my Buddy Key to try it out for 10 days, but thats already spoken for >.<

I personally cancelled my WoW account and I don't regret it. I love AoC and won't be going back to play WoW any time soon. I might not even buy the Wrath of the Lich King when that comes out. But thats my view yours might be different.

I tell ya, I think this game looks pretty nice visually. However, My investment is with WoW. I've put too much time on this game to just drop it. So I'll just have to sit back and patiently wait for Wrath to come out!

Re: Now that AoC is out.. Necro/Demo Section?

AoC is a great game so is WoW, in some ways wow is better and some ways AoC is better. Like kurmit said if you bored with wow for a bit try it. I haven't seen anyone who has played it say oh this sucks. I mean yes its buggy as all hell right now but its fun its gory and its new. I personally will prolly be playing both for a while I might stop wow for a bit that depends on if i get into a new raiding guild. If I don't then ya I will be takign a break from it.

But back on track, AoC is a great game won't dethrone WoW but I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. So if you want to try a whole new combat system, you like decapitating people, you like to look at drawn breasts. Then this game is worth checking out.

Re: Now that AoC is out.. Necro/Demo Section?

I keep hearing people complain about it being buggy, but I keep not finding the bugs; Not to be nit-picky. Maybe I've played too many Sony released MMOs , but it is fairly bug free although not completely. It was the smoothest launch of any MMO I've ever seen, kudo points to them for that.

A few more days and I might have to make the choice between my little gnomish bastion of world dominating evil (warlock) or my brawny stygian tempest . Don't have the time for two MMOs...

There are a few exploits people will want to wait to mull over.

Wont replace warcraft by any means, but very nice game for as far as i've gotten.made as many classes as I could.necro and demon are good, but try tempest of Set priest, they mow thru mobs.herald of Xoti is also good.
And this game is definitely not for kids.first game i've seen that when you remove females top,can actually see nipples.
I'm a dirty old man,so it gets my vote'

I would move over to AoC if my laptop were powerful enough for it :( Guess I'm kinda stuck with WoW till that happens. AoC really does look like it would be a breath of fresh air.
