Re: Old School Games

Shadowgate was a good one. I remember wasting many hours playing my dad in the old NES Golf game, and beating all my friends in Tecmo Super Bowl. I liked the Atari games like River Run and the helicopter game. The Castlevania series rocked from the first cart. When Baldur's Gate came out I was stuck on my keyboard. Thats no too old school, but sitting at home playing PONG, Asteroids, Spase Invaders, Night Rider was...

I have looked at the Spring project and was seriously contemplating doing a fresh install of TA and loading Spring with add-ons to see how it looked. Do not want to mess up a machine with TA already installed how I like it!!

Re: Old School Games

My favorite Classic Old School Games

First real Multiplayer game, up to 4 players: M.you.L.E.
This was for the C64 and still has a cult following.

Space Sim: ELITE
Another C64 game that you traveled the galaxy, fought, traded and even had to dock with space stations orbiting planets!!!

Fantasy: Sword of Fargol
Another C64 game that had you go explore, find treasures and kill monsters going down floor by floor till you finally find the Sword of Fargol, then you had to go back up to the top. Well I never ever have made it back to the top. I will have to pull out the C64 emulator and try this one again!

FPS - DOOM I
Started an unbelieveable FPS genere. The first was Castle Wolenstein, which although looked 3D, was just a 2D game, but it was the first of its kind. Hats off to John Carmack and Id Software, the father of FPS!

Re: Old School Games

Wow, irony at its best. A friend of mine has gotten me to mess around with a classic game of old. It is called Barren Realms Elite, or BRE for short.

These games are from the early BBS days, and in a fasion are the earliest versions of multi online player games. Recently in the past few years people have been porting them over to PHP code, so they can be ran today on the web.

Re: Old School Games

Does anyone remember SoftDisk. They would mail you a flopy of programs every month. I don't remember the name of the game, but one month they sent a disk that contained a basic RPG. I was hooked from that point forward. The Apple store even hooked me up with this guy(never met him, only talked over the phone) who was into RPG's and when I would get stuck I would call him....ahhh back in the day.
