56,000 BANNED - Go get'em Blizzard

Here is some good news for everyones server economy's, a mass ban from Blizzard on bots!

http://nihilum.mousesports.com/en/ne..._using_glider/

*edit*
I know this is from May 20th but it was the first I had heard of it so I thought I would share it. I got no hits from using the search function (Keywords: Ban, Glider, 56,000). If it has been posted, please accept my apologies.

Re: 56,000 BANNED - Go get'em Blizzard

I saw something about this last week, don't remember where . Reading some of the comments on there made me laugh though, especially in regards to the few that admit botting. Trying to justify something like that is like the person who steals from the cash register while working at 7/11. When they get caught and then fired, they say that it was easier than getting a second job.....

I hate botters, gold sellers, account sellers, all that crap. But just like in real life, low-lifes do exist and we must deal with it. Kudos to Blizz for doing something about it. Even if it is something rather small.

2 reasons botters are good.

  1. Stuff always in the AH. I can almost pick the botters because they will have 4 or 5 of a rare hard to get items.
  2. Easy honor points. I found a group of 5 Horde hunters in Tanaris two days back. I figured they were gliding early since they all passed me and when I started following they waved. I called a guild mate and we killed them over and over. It was a real good practice against Hunters as the program is quick with intimidation and does not miss moves. After about the 50th kill we had it down to a science. Since they were screwing up the area for others, and myself, trying to grind Roc eggs I spoke to the GM as we were killing them by the time they were clean up I had racked up 94 kills and over 400 honor.
Personally I could give a crap if you are gliding. Just do it alone (1 PC), pick a large route, and stay near the computer. Grinding out mats does get super boring so I 100% understand people that use it for leveling.

So Blizzard employees should "fear for their lives" because all Americans own a gun and one of them is gonna go shoot them all... that is a summary of one conversation held in response to the Blizzard bans.

Is this really what people outside of the US really think of Americans? That we all have a gun and are trigger happy? Not to get off topic, but I'm just curious, really...

Waiting for the kettle to boil is not the most exciting of activities, but if you want a cup of tea, you know what you're getting yourself into... hehe

2 reasons why the grind exists:

  • It prolongs the amount of time needed to achieve things in wow, thus keeping you paying your subscription, and keeping blizz funded so they can keep giving us new content.
  • It gives you a sense of actually feeling like you've earnt the thing you're grinding for, be it a nice crafted item at the end or whatever. Receiving something for no effort doesn't enforce the basic principles of the game, nor principles in real life for that matter.
The way I see it, botters see themselves as above the amount of work necessary to get something, like the world (of warcraft) owes them a living just because they pay their fee.

I'm sure many of us wished we could send a clone of ourselves into the office to do a days work. But that's work. If someone feels the game is too much like work, they should play something that's still fun to them.

Perhaps it's a symptom of the insidious way this game can get under the skin and start to influence us to the point of feeling like we "have to" do certain things.

Botting actually defeats the object of playing the game in the first place imo.

Re: 56,000 BANNED - Go get'em Blizzard

Well to be perfectly honest i think mass bans like this are stupid. I mean I am happy as all hell that a lot of dumb gold farmers are gone thats good. But sorry to burst people's bubble but a lot of people who bot do it to take a little of the grinding away and who cares. I personally don't bot but its tempting sometimes. Wow does a good job most of the time balancing lvlign and grinding but nowadays i can't stand grinding anymore. I'm sorry but its not fun to grind for 2 weeks to get enough primals to make 1 item. So i do not see a problem with what a lot of people use bots for. Gold farmers and honor farmers yes kill them for all i'm concerned. But if someone is using a bot to make the game a little more enjoyable for themselves and to tell the truth bots have prolly kept a good amount of older players still playing. I mean how many of you have 2-6 level 70's. I'm sorry but after my 3rd I was done with lvling another toon. Now fear of bannign is what made me not think about usign a bot to level another i just decided to be done lvling. But if it keeps some people in the game then thats good for blizzard. You can not group people in mass liek that and say its all good.

Re: 56,000 BANNED - Go get'em Blizzard

Here's the thing. For every one guy that is only botting now and then to level up his 4th alt I'm guessing there are 10 botters that either A. do it to cheat the pvp system and get free honor (making bg's suck because of afkers yet still rewarding the cheaters) or B. bot to grind gold and sell it. The second type are usually the ones that flood forums w/ key loggers and try to steal accounts while their toons are busy botting away.

The only bot I ever use is my little brother when I'm away for work, and since his main is a warrior my HK's are sometimes a bit lacking (picture a warlock that doesn't like to run around or move in pvp)
