Re: Any Magic The Gathering players?

i used to play back in the days of beta(we were playing for ante back in the days and i won a signed black lotus^^), arabian knights and stuff. I even used to be a DCI sanctioned judge.
But that is all a very long time ago.

Re: Any Magic The Gathering players?

In case anyone actually has been following, I reviewed my schedule and will be attending the tourney at time warp comics instead however the times are the same (entry fees are cheaper).

yeah i know, nobody really cares but hey its cheap and if you live in the denver area or, like me, are just visiting, its a great place/time to get into or back into the game. schedule for time warp comics tournaments is found ==> http://www.time-warp.com/servlet/StoreFront

Re: Any Magic The Gathering players?

Much like us in WoW, I have found that the experienced players in Magic tend to talk in short hand. I am having problems understanding Magic's short hand. None of the web sites I visited have a glossary that I can refer too to find out what things like "bruiser", "passive", and all the other abbreviation's mean. Now I'm not stupid and I can figure most things out with some looking around and assumptions, but I don't want to come off sounding like a total tard for assuming the wrong thing. I would like to know if there a glossary somewhere for Magic like the one here at the Den for WoW?

***edit***
I read this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ering_keywords, it helped out alot, but still looking for a list of short hand or abbreviation's that are commonly used

Well, as for the term "Bruise" its simply due to the colours involved - Black and Blue...much like a bruise (ok ok, there's no yellow, purple, red or green in there but you get the idea ) - its been so long since I played that I don't really remember a lot of the general jargon, just the specifics of the decks I played.

Lol kinda what i thought it meant, but you get what I mean (I think).

It's just like in general chat in WoW and someones asks what is "VC" or "SSC" (you pick an abbreviation) and that gets them lamb basted.

Boy this brings back memories, I remeber playing this 15 years ago while waiting on runequest games to get started. I ran an elemental deck which really took off when they introduced two-color land cards.

Re: Any Magic The Gathering players?

I still have my Black/Green deck, I wasn't much of a player, but I felt I had a pretty nice deck. Lots of fun with my green part of the deck, takes quite a few turns to get rid of my ghosts

edit: green side was a Judgement 'Slam?' deck, black i can't remember :\

Re: Any Magic The Gathering players?

i didnt read page two of the replies but imo, search your area for card shops most of the time at least one of them will hold a weekly sanctioned tournament. Most of the time the people who go there will be willing to help you learn the game and they should always have a judge or a group of players qualified enough to make "DCI rulings". once you get in the swing of things it comes easily and you'll soon be buying boosters and developing play strategies. World of fun it was it just got to be too expensive :/.
