A little network issue
Hey guys. I know you're not a team of tech support agents, but I thought I might throw this in here in case anyone has any ideas. People here tend to be better informed. I posted this on the official forums:

Re: A little network issue
Did you try reseting the router? I have had similar problems and a simple reset worked fine.

Re: A little network issue
That sounds more like a WoW-problem, because you can log on to the PTR. As far as I remember, you need to make a phsyical "copy" of your wow to log on to the PTR, so if that works it "should" be something with your original version of WoW. Did you try the repair function? Or try to overwrite the originally installed one with the copied version for the PTR (I'm not sure if they are almost identical, so please be careful).
Otherwise, that's a real strange problem, though everything seems to work fine except for the copy you play with. |

Re: A little network issue
I agree that this does not look much like a networking problem caused by your router. To make sure that this is not the case you could try the following on your computer:
Open a shell (on a Mac you will find an application called "Terminal" in your Applications -> Utilities subfolder). Type the following: telnet us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com 3724 if you are playing on an US server or telnet eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com 3724 for Europe. If you get something like $ telnet eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com 3724 Trying 80.239.178.113... Connected to eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com. Escape character is '^]'. then your networking setup is most likely not the cause of your problem. I would continue searching on the application layer. (Type "quit" to exit.) HTH, Thad |

Re: A little network issue
Thanks a lot guys, this is what I got.
telnet us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com 3724 Trying 12.129.232.110... Connected to us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com. Escape character is '^]'. I didn't know there was a repair function. Where is it? The PTR seems to be a separate program, maybe it uses a lot of the info from the live game, I don't know. |
