Show Us Your Computer

Taking off from the Show Off Your UI thread, I thought it would be nice to have a show off your computer thread.
As a computer geek and gamer I take pride in my machine and enjoy seeing others. I also really like to have a clean desktop, and again love to see others. So let's do this, throw down some computer specs and maybe a screenie of your desktop.

So here's mine
Raidmax Sagitta II Case
ASUS M2R32-MVP Motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ OC'd to 3.2 GHz
Visiontek Radeon HD 4850
2 GB Patriot DDR2 800 RAM
Western Digital 320GB 7200 RPM Boot Drive
Western Digital 640GB 7200 RPM Storage Drive
Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM Storage Drive
Seagate 120 GB 7200 RPM Storage Drive
LG 22x DVD Burner
Sceptre 20" LCD Monitor 1680 x 1050
Dynex 26" TV 1776 x 1000 (weird resolution but it works)

Currently using the Windows 7 RC and I must say I am quite Impressed. For those hesitant to switch after Vista, I would say go for it. Runs real nice on minimal hardware. Actually uses no more resources than my machine on XP.

Well there we go, let's see others computers!

--Edit--
I swear the image was there when I posted, then got deleted, I fixed it though.

Re: Show Us Your Computer

My current computer is on its death bed unfortunately. She's coming up on 5 years old this fall. The poor thing.

Not all the pieces are original since I had some electrical issues:

Asus Super Lanboy Case
Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
2gb DDR2 Ram
Asus P5B Motherboard
Creative Labs audigy 2 ZX Gamer
NVidia Geforce PCX 5900 (what I could get for pci-xpress at the time)
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB 16mb cache SATA HD
Crappy 19" CRT Monitor cuz my pretty Xerox LCD died in the tragic power issues.

I just spec'd out a new one today, will add that and picture later.

Re: Show Us Your Computer

I recently build a new one. On average I build a new pc every 3 years so I hope this one will last that long.

The heart of the machine. I noticed the Core i7's were the top of the line on any review and tagged as the gamer's choice. The 960 was double the price for less then 10% more performance then the 940 so I picked the 940. The rest followed naturally as best price/performance choices.
- Intel Core i7 i7-940 / 2.93 GHz
- ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
- Corsair Dominator 6 GB DDR3-1600 (3x 2GB. Still have 3 slots open to expand to 12GB if needed)

For storage I went with a high speed OS and App disc and a secondary slower one for storage. Intel has released solid state discs that rival any other fast bootdisc solution with the added benefit of less noise, heat and power usage. I took the chance and so far it has paid off very well.
- Intel X25-M Solid State Drive - 80 GB
- Samsung SpinPoint F1 Desktop Class HD103UJ - 1 TB
- Samsung WriteMaster SH-S223F 22x/22x/12x

The GFX card is the real muscle for games. I compared all available ones but none really stood out. The GTX295 and 4870x2 were the top of the lines, but they kinda cheat because they're actually 2 lesser cards smashed into 1 slot. I had enough slots so I went for the more costly option of 2 of the best single cards in SLI. This also means if I want I can go up to 4 monitors in the future. For now the performance is phenomenal.
- 2x XFX GeForce GTX 285 Black Edition 1 GB DDR3

For the case I shifted through loads of pictures of cases till I ran across this one. I just love the looks.
- SilverStone SST-RV01B (RAVEN)

For the monitor I picked one for which I could find the most positive reviews, while still be in a decent pricerange:
HP LP2475w - 24" running at 1900x1200

For peripherals I went with logitech stuff, considering I've had good experiences with their previous products:
- Logitech G15 Keyboard
- Logitech G9 Laser Mouse
- Logitech X 530 5.1 Speakerset (I'm not picky with sound clarity, but I do enjoy surround sound)

For my mic I kept my old headset. Only problem was finding splitters for all the sound I/O because both my speakers and this headset are 5.1.
- Razer Barracuda

Launchdate should be October 24th this year if I'm not mistaken. Just thought I'd let you know.
