Trade Chat Question
Is there any way to read trade chat while you are not in a city? Maybe an addon or something? I am tired of sitting in Dalaran for a Naxx group when I could be doing something else. Please help. |

I'm not sure about an addon, but this question only highlights a different problem: trade shouldn't be used for LFG. |

I don't think its possible. Use LFG, you can even put a nice comment about yourself there (4k dps, Naxx achievement e.g.), and it will automatically join you to the LFG channel. Of course this depends a bit on your server, if people are only using trade to make groups then you can't do much. |

The only thing I can think of is if you have another account you have have a char stand in a city for watching trade chat while you do something else on the other account. |

Problem is they took away the ability to chat in lfg channel. That was a horrible change really. Even if I was in lfg for a certain instance if I saw someone wanting to run Dire Maul or something I always helped out if they needed it. Or if another instance of the same level as the one I was in lfg for got spammed I would sometimes to there. And like the OP said, you can do other things while you do it. |

You can still chat in LFG just need to add it in manually via chat settings |

Unfortunately on my server, even though I constantly put myself in the LFG window it rarely results in a group, and when it does it is usually a "desperate" group. I wish blizzard would take a look at this. |

I think trade becomes an option when you are in a zone that is a capital city so if you aren't, I wouldn't expect an addon to make that possible. |

LFG or trade is no matter on Garona, They both are equally ignored thanks to spammers. |

I think using trade channel is often more effective than using LFG though especially for the bigger raids as you are more likely to get people. You might not be looking for a group in the channel option but by spur of the moment you see something you might give it a go. To the original OP, no, don't think it's possible. Best thing to do is when you want a group just mess about with AH stuff or make bandages or whatever. Or go on the test dummy. For me, i just do what i do and if i happen to come across something while in the city, i'll go for it. I don't waste time waiting for one. |
