I Got a problem...
First off I'm no computer genius so when conversing with me about this try explaining it like you would to a 10 year old. all I know is how to play the games. As far as the hardware is concerned I couldn't tell you what is good or bad, old or new, etc. I never understood the computers so asking me something simple like what kind of processor I got would probably break me cause I just dont know. I understand that that can make helping me difficult so I am sorry...  So I got this problem. It seems like every time a new patch comes out I cant seem to log onto my main or the server he is on. I will get disconnected and when I go to log back on it gets stuck at 'Logging onto server' or at 'success'... I can log onto ANY other server and play all my level 8 toons but because I hate leveling I would rather not play wow. My questions are if anyone else is having this problem? Why can't I get onto my main server? (happens to be Crushridge). What is causing this? Is it common? Is there anyway to fix it without reinstalling (remember I don't know that much about computers so if these questions seem ridiculous it is because I am openly ignorant on the subject matter). I have been on other Blizzard sponcered forums and have seen that there are others that are experiencing the same thing but there is no help. The few suggestions like delete 'WTF' files, or disconnect router and modem and reboot don't work either. Last patch I even did a reinstall...that was dumb...didnt fix @#$*. Help? and spare me the insults please...I simply have never taken the time to learn this stuff. learning computers (and even games lately) are far down on my priorities for things master... |

More than likely, it's an add-on that, until it is compatible with the patch, is causing this hiccup. Try disabling your adds and see if that helps, then go through them one by one(it sucks, I know) Enabling them one at a time to find the culprit |

Yeah its most likely an addon, update your addons when the patch comes out or disable them until they are updated. |

I know that Blizzard was having some authentication problems lately, perhaps it could be related to that?

I appreciate the help but its still no good...why does it effect only the main server? I cant even log onto the 'character login screen to disable adds...I had to remove them from the files... |

Is it possible that the server has a problem? Just after Wrath of the Lich King came out there were huge ques & Blizz has been known to have authentication issues (very recently). Each server is different & if one particular server is having problems you may not be able to login where you could on one that is not. I also have some friends who, because of lag, cannot logout in Dalaran-if they do they get DCed when they try to log the toon thats there. If you can login to WoW on a different server than your main is then I would think that your machine/adddons are OK.

try deleting you cache folder, i found that every so often it becomes bloated and corrupted that it causes problems wow will rebuild it when you login |

Your main isn't in Dalaran, is he? A guild-mate of mine often has problems getting back on when she logged out there (although it works fine for me). If that is the case, you may wish to raise a ticket with a GM and ask them to move them somewhere else - it worked for her. |
