any macbook users?

Im getting my macbook pro in a couple of days and im wondering if anyone else here uses one. On my mom's old powerbook ive been borrowing, it makes wow choppy in heavily populated areas (shatt, ogrimmar, sometimes uc). Im wondering if this will improve so i can run in these places smoothly.

Here are the specs that im getting upgraded on my macbook pro so maybe you can tell me:

- 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
- 4 GB Ram
- 200 GB 7200 RPM hard drive

I also upgraded it to the glossy screen since it runs high-def i figured that would be a nice touch, though that wont make the game run more efficiently.

Sorry when it comes to the internal workings of computers, im about as clueless as they get. I just upgraded all the major components figuring that will keep the computer from becoming obsolete for maybe a few more weeks

That machine will chew up WoW and spit it out with plenty left over. I am an Apple Tech, i dont have that machine, but plenty of my friends run this hardware set with WoW and it runs like a dream. On the comparable iMac, the framerates are easily in the 60fps range. So i am sure your new machine will run WoW great. If you have a problem, you can message me and we can figure out what is going on with your installation.

Re: any macbook users?

thank you, i appreciate that offer. The computer should be arriving tues or wed. I cant wait!

I figured it would run beautifully but figured I would just ask here anyway. The powerbook im using runs it just fine except for the areas I mentioned so I assumed the macbook would just make it run perfectly (but then again you know what they say about assuming ha)

Re: any macbook users?

I play on a Powerbook G4. I'm due for an upgrade, but the game still plays well enough. It's slow in Shat and I sometimes see frame rates in the single digits. I bought my wife a Macbook Pro about 6 months ago. It's not as nice as what you will have (your specs are better), but plays WAY better than my Powerbook. Excellent graphics and much higher frame rate (rarely under 20fps and usually in the 60 range). Even my kids Alienware gaming PC is not as nice.

Btw, Ventrilo does work on a Mac in case you were wondering

Re: any macbook users?

thats ok, i dont use ventrilo and im sure if i get serious enough in arena that I need some form of voice chat there is something to utilize

And yeah i have the powerbook G4 right now (my old dell desktop was like 5 years old and completely crashed so I borrowed my mothers to bring back to college since she wasnt really using it). Its like you say usually good, in ogrimmar and shatt i drop to single digits but in the world itself it runs fine

Re: any macbook users?

i cannot find any addon/software that helps displaying the name of the person talking in ventrilo inside the game screen. Anyone knows one?
