Fully patched XP is way better than Vista. I have seen a dual core 2GB ram Vaio go very slow with vista, and come to a new life with XP. Before reformatting, just check 2 things: 1) Vista PRO license is downgradable: you can use it for XP. Vista Home license can't be downgraded. (in Italy at least) 2) Get all drivers on a CD or on a partition that you are not gonna format: most new laptops come with drivers only for Vista.

Since Muberikntyl has brought up the subject of new laptops. I am in the market for a nice laptop. It doesn't have to be the lastest and greatet on the market just looking around. If anyone has any suggstions they would be much appriciated. I have looked at a few websites (dell,hp,aleinware) but I'm not great with specs or hardware. Thanks in addvance.
