How did thee chance 'pon the Den of Warlocks?

Just been reading the replies to Morganfaey's "You know you spend too much time on the Den when....." and there was mention of being introduced to this great site by another warlock.

Just wondered what brought other Den-izens (copywriting that) here in the first place.

For me, it was some time ago when I was leveling my first baby undead lock. I think it was probably either the succy quest (finding out where Comar Villand was and how many times I'd probably get ganked on the way to wetlands...), the felpup quest (probably the orc part in Ally territory that I was a bit scared to do lol) or perhaps just how many more backwards and forward trips I'd have to take to get my enchanted gold bloodrobe... hehe... such days of innocence

No one put me on to this site, but I'm so glad I found it because it gives me so much more than the answers to those early rites of passage quests.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone here for either your awesome level of knowledge, curiosity and willingness to ask questions, or for being Akasha (if you happen to be Akasha ofc lol).

How did you find the Den?

Re: How did thee chance 'pon the Den of Warlocks?

I found the den as I was leveling my first "real" WoW toon. I was completely new to the game and in need of leveling help. I came across Crypts Alliance Leveling guide (only went to 30ish I think) but soon realized how superior this site was compared to the official wow forums. The rest is (epix) history.

Re: How did thee chance 'pon the Den of Warlocks?

They day I discovered the warlocks den? Ahhh.... I remember it well, like a nice red wine on a cool spring day.

I had just finished helping these two star crossed lovers down at the old Stonefield Farm, and headed back to goldshire to clean the kobold blood off my daggar. Upon seeing those two love birds reunite, a warm sensation flooded over me and I swear i heard magical bells in the air. Ding! It was oh so magical, but enough about that.

While in Goldshire, I began hearing mutterings of dark magics brewing in stormwind. I tell you, you wouldn't believe what the riff that go in and out of that tavern reveal. Anyways, the mention of Dark Magics caught my attention. You see, I'm a warlock, a very dark evil one at that with a flair for the romantic. Anyways, I made up my mind to venture forth to Stormwind and get to the bottom of these rumors. If there were dark forces brewing, I indended to get to the source of it.

I traveled along the road, as far as I cared to, but it was traveled far to often by the commoners. So i took a shortcut through the forest, after a few battles with various wolves, and those Defias thugs, none of whom could match the might of this evil one, I arrived at the gates of Stormwind. Stormwind, such an impressive city. I shall enjoy watching it fall when I become more powerful.

Traveling through town, nobody seem to make mention of any Dark Magics anywheres in the city. Ofcourse! I thought, If i were some dark evil source, I certainly wouldn't be anywheres well known. So, where would I set up shop? Naturally I would be drawn to the mage district, of all the divisions of Stormwind, it seemed the likely place to draw up on magical energies.

Upon first look, there didn't appear to be anything out of place, or dark and sinister in the Mage Quarter. So I decided to hit the nearest tavern, this "Slaughtered Lamb" Tavern, and see what I could learn. Like any good tavern, it was filled with the most vile of people. These where the kind of people that didn't need to take bathes as even the dirt was afraid to cling to their bodies. It looked as if the only requirement to enter was a glaring look, so naturally I fit right in.

I found a suitable seat in a dark corner of the tavern and waited. The trick to learny anything of value in a place like this was to display complete disinterest in all things around you. So i fixated my vision on nothing in particular and strained my ears to pick up the mutterings of those around me. Surely these lowly scum of people might know something about the dark magics rumored to be in Stormwind.

After half an hour, my patience was wearing thin, so I decided a little reconasince was needed. Quietly I got up from my seat, and walked toward the bar. The bartender seeing me coming, turned away. Likely scared of my evil glare I concluded, but it gave me ample time to slip through a doorway just to my right. This led to a long path that seemingly spirald downward a great distance.

I continued along this path until I begain to see the flickerings of figherlight and hearing the mutterings of various people. Carefully i crept making scant a sound until i reached another doorway at the bottom of the ramp. There i paused and listened a good moment, suddenly I heard my name. Growing angry that whatever was down there would know me but not I them, I burst into the room, my dark magics at the ready.

"Welcome, Thelmarle. Welcome to the Warlocks Den."

Yes yes, I see that you were talking about this website and not the wonderous place in Stormwind. I just thought I'd have a little fun.
I actually discovered this website around the time I was doing quests in Goldshire, just about 3 years ago from now. I've been a regular ever since.

I was told about it from a fellow warlock in a PUG i was in running UD Strat if I recall correctly. Haven't regreted looking up the site since, as its now one of my favorites to check out on anything warlockish/WoW.

Re: How did thee chance 'pon the Den of Warlocks?

I just started playing WoW (Dentarg server - Horde) I was talking to a higher level warlock about places to get good information on the web. He replied with wowmb.net. I hate to admit it, but I cannot remember his name now. So if you are reading this thanks so much! I have learned a ton about my lock here on the Den.

Now I just need to keep leveling up so I can do all this fancy stuff y'all talk about... Like raiding and arena.

Re: How did thee chance 'pon the Den of Warlocks?

Warlock was my first toon (a thing I have not regretted ever) and I stumbled upon the Den when trying to find some basic info on locks. Found the forum and discovered there are actually people who have intelligent conversations and friendly debates without getting nasty...stopped going to the WoW forums and came here where I have friends who understand.

Thanks everyone!
