Good Bye

Sorry to say so, but I think this forum has a lot of resemblance of the official ones these days. I know you can't moderate all whining and stupidity away, and so it's better for me to leave.

People taking all this game stuff so serious as you apparently can read out of their posts makes me reconsider how to waste my time.

When some people start talking about how the game SHOULD or probably WILL be 90% of the time and no longer how it really IS something is severely wrong. Not with the game. With those people.

Don't tell me you guys all laugh about yourself. You are really annoyed. I can only hope you find out what's really important in life. WoW Warlock dominance is not.

Good luck, Akasha, I pray for amazing Wrath of the Lich King buffs so the level of posts might change to the better.

Re: Good Bye

neej, sorry you feel that way. To be fair I've seen an increase of that / argumentativeness under the guise of discussion and flaming lately but I guarantee you that these forums have a very long way to go before they descend into OF levels.

Not sure what's happened with particular discussions as I've been a bit slack here lately. I'd imagine that impending 2.4 has ruffled some feathers.

What I generally do if something has bothered me is just stay away for a few days then come back fresh. If a thread is going somewhere bad I generally don't post on it, unless I have already. You are a great member of this site and will be missed by those of us that do have some perspective and respect of other's views (which I hope is the majority when it comes down to it).

Take care.

To the others: be nice.

Re: Good Bye

Hey dude,
i haven't been here for long, but this forum (as well as many of your posts) have been very valuable to me (my toon actually) so i'm gonna speak anyway.
People have different ways of expressing their dissagreement with things they don't like. As people have different ways of perceiving those disagreements. The fact that you don't agree doesn't mean you have to leave. The level of threads and posts here cannot by far be compared to the official forums and that is because of people like you who have understanding and insight about the class.
All in all, be more Blizzard like: Listen to the whines, but completely disregard them.

Peace out.

Vaell, thankyou.

In regards to the posts made recently (or any time in the past), the only suggestion I can make is to bring to my attention - EVERY post has a report feature, hit it and let me know about it. More so now than ever, I can not be on the forums 24 hours a day. Most days I barely get enough time to eat let alone sit here and try to catch every post that people don't like. No I can't promise that I will take action on every reported post, some I don't think are as bad as others, but if I don't know about it, I can't make that decision.

I don't have moderators here to police everyone, but I do have 25,000 members, each and every one that has the ability to help make this forum a friendlier place. Each and every one that can also take it upon themselves to politely remind people to take it easy, not to flame, not post aggressively etc. Yes I have the big black steel capped boots that I will put on and stomp on a few people when things get bad, but you can all help posts remain on tract and polite before I need to get that far. And if it has gone that far... let me know.

Re: Good Bye

I can feel your pain Neej. But I also agree on Vael.

Try to see the bigger picture.
Many warlocks allready rerolled another char. They did not do it with pleasure. (excpetions taken in consideration)
Saying goodbye always hurts. Even if it is not RL and just giving you a fun time. That creates grief. Oneway or the other. A bit of it will come out.

Things nowaday's keep continueing. Now we know it is still a game. Starting another character means going level 1 to 40. Boring for many. That is why they are so angry. They know it is still a game. They just don't want to trow away 6 weeks of their lives for something they already had (and lost). They just wanna keep it. And how bad it may be. That is human behaviour.
Even if it is nessesary. It is like taxes in RL. Country goes bad. All know. But strike when they have to pay.
Plz don't blame the warlock, gamer or any community for it.
The only ones you can blame are the ones in posistion. If there is one to blame.

In the case of myself. I rolled a mage some moths ago. I like him. But my warlock is still my precious. I do not have as much fun as I had on my warlock. First time is always the greatest. I am still in repetition mode.
I miss this forum. But what point is it to visit if I don't play it.
And that hurts. I did not couse this onmyself. But I did pay for it.
It was wonderfull but they also took it away from me.

I hope you keep playing and having your fun in the game.
If not step back and let is all cool off.

Take care
Greetings Beal

Re: Good Bye

I'm sorry you feel that way, neej. I've noticed it too, but after trolling the official forums for so long, I've just learned to ignore it. Maybe I should try to be more aware of those things so this doesn't happen to more people.

Anyway, you have my regards, but I have to agree that the level of this forum is still light years beyond anything I have experienced in the past. The maturity and frank discussion is one of the reasons I keep coming back here rather than anywhere else. I too have rolled another toon (drood, with reluctance) and I am not all that happy about it, but that's life. I'll keep raiding and playing my lock, but like many I am not very happy with the proposed changes coming out. I look at this as a challenge to become a better player and I hope you will too.

Peace out.

Akasha people have done this very thing in the past and you have reacted harshly for that, telling them they are not moderators. I know we have clashed in the past over posts. Over the time I have been a Den member I have grown and learned alot about belonging to a forum and as a "poster" in this very forum. But I am a little confused on this subject. I know with time all things includeing excepted practices change, but I just want to be clear and eliminate confusion on my part on this matter. Maybe its the difference between the definition of what a moderator is and is not.

I think that this forum has grown alot in the time that I have as all things must or they parish. Neej maybe a vacation is needed but I think you will find when looking back with freash eyes you will see that there is a HUGH difference in the WDen and any other forum. Akasha has made this forum the best that I have ever been involved with and set the bar for what a forum should be.

Re: Good Bye

Time away from anything - no matter how much you enjoy it - can produce great results. I need to take forum breaks from time to time because there is always that 5% of folks (90% on official forums) that make me fear for the future of the world.

Have a nice long break (preferably with beer or your beverage of choice) and come back and see us!

Re: Good Bye

If you want it, my only suggestion would be to take a step back for a while.

Whether it's web sites, forums, phone calls, CNN political "coverage", or the trade channel.. someone is going to say things, even repeatedly, that you may not like. I think that we have all been on either side of that fence at some point in our lives. The best thing to do is close the site, log out of the forum, say I'll call you back later, never watch CNN again (sorry.. biased), or our favorite /ignore or /leave trade.

Unfortunately, this is just how it goes sometimes. I'm sure you've seen my "Stupid Blue" post where I vented a bit on how I am also annoyed with some of the repetitive comments being made though in it all it has helped me to simply say something then back a way for a bit.

I'd suggest backing away if you need to but I wouldn't suggest leaving. I have found that while you will find issues no mater where you go, this place we have here is far better than OF or the like... at least in my opinion.

And I can't speak for everyone, but if I have contributed to your wanting to leave in any way, it was not my intention and again if so, I apologize for leading you to that decision.

/salute
