Akasha people have done this very thing in the past and you have reacted harshly for that, telling them they are not moderators.

There is a difference between pointing out the forum rules to someone, and telling them they can't do something. I have never "reacted harshly" to a member pointing out someone's behaviour is less than desirable and/or against the forum rules. I will step in when people take it upon themselves to make comments that someone should "go back to the official forums", stop posting or anything similar. The only person who is allowed to tell people they can't post is me. And that has no plans to change in the near future.

That is also why the word "politely" was bolded, underlined and highlighted in red.

Sorry to see ya go Neej, I don't think these forums have diminished enough to push anyone away, but I got thick skin (I am in the rampage battlegroup as alliance, I need thick skin). But the very best to you and thank you for the support, advice and knowledge you have shared.

Mmh, I don't think I explained what really bothered me:

I do not care about nerfs. I would play a Warlock without SL and Deathcoil like in the old days if I have to. I don't even care about WoW.

What I see is:

Threads that have content like "2.4 sux." - and nothing else. Posts like this are about to be deleted instantly in my opinion. Problem is that people AGREE and post more on that.

Threads that go over the top like the few "OMG I NEEZ NEW GEAR WITH LT NERF!!!111". Total garbage and people kept replying to it -> affirming that stupidity.

Bad spelling. No punctuation.

Always pointing people to "USE SEARCH, HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE". Seriously, the search doesn't help a lot with many problems (I tried, and I a no newbie) and the game is changing all the time. So if there is some general thread, no problem to point people there by providing a link. But no need to insult them. Arrogance <> wisdom.

The Den just became a rude place.

Imagine your favorite pub. People were friendly, new people were greeted warmly and if they said something uneducated no one attacks them. That was the Den I was enjoying.

Today it's like some barely 21 year old college frat invaded your old cozy pub and they are shouting at each other, laughing about penis jokes, bragging, and telling other people to not ask stupid questions.

That's not my pub anymore.

I agree the last few weeks have been a bit more powder keg than recently but 2.4 was looking rough for a while there which put people on edge and we have had some newer posters that simply do not understand how to start or engage in a non-confrontational manner.

However, I want to share my little story here.

My Kara team was struggling really badly with downing curator and after a few weeks of wiping over and over and never getting further than 60% or so I decided to post here. This is the result of that post. I then linked to that post in my guild forums and asked my whole team to take a look at what was said. Although some of them had a hard time taking that their gear or spec was not optimal they were happy I did it. They said the quality of the information was great... and the best part... they said they had never seen a WoW forum that seemed so friendly.

Yeah we're having a rough patch here but we can already see Akasha taking steps to improve it. I've not seen another forum that is as friendly. I've not seen a admin on another class board take the kind of active role that Akasha does.

We don't need to leave our little home here. We need to step up and help Akasha to do a little redecorating. We need to stick around to show new folks what this place is all about.

I hate to see you go neej so why not take a break from posting or reading for a while come back and see if we are more on track with the friendly place we all know this can be.

Yes, you 202 hit evangelists, you all knew it from the start. You never asked something dumb.

While I see the minor annoyance of ever-repeating questions I despise the arrogant behaviour of people shouting "USE SEARCH FFS".

Every board about every topic I was member became like this after some years. Just like: If you don't share 100% of our history, it's YOUR problem, read 5000 posts before even considering posting something.

It's not the fact, it's the style how people treat newbies. Just don't answer if you feel offended by people seeking help.

Personally, I don't see a problem with Build/Gear threats. I actually like to answer to them sometimes. Just ignore them if you don't like them.

I think the reason that, normally calm and polite, people like myself responded to said post negatively was that is seemed like an ironic joke. After several posts by Akasha asking people specifically not to post things like that here is one where the title is an exageratted "Rate MY Spec and Gear" I opened it thinking it was a joke but it was not....

There is more I kind of want to say but I think I shall leave it at that. Just remember that not everyone comes here for the same reason. We all have different thresholds for repetitivness, if that is even a word.... No one, on either side of the fence, should be judging someone else.

The only person here who really gets to put there foot down and guide these forums is Akasha and if we disagree or don't like how things are going than a person has the choice to take a break or leave permenantly. But I think we need to respect her wishes and realizes that she is the one who puts alot of time and effort into these forums to give us all a home. No one can please everyone all the time.

I think the responses speak volumes about the quality of people invested in the Den. There are dumb people everywhere and possibly even a "stupid flaming elitist L2P nub" deep within all of us. I think 2.4 and some unfavorable changes brought this out in people that otherwise aren't like that.

I do agree that lately it seems like there are more "use the search.../end post" replies. Searching can help, but I always think back to my early days of WoW (and finding wowmb) and remember how much information overload there was. I read pages and pages on what "drain tanking" was and how to do it correctly but it took somebody responding to my post (and actually playing the game) for it to sink in. But it must be frustrating to answer the same questions over and over again when people just need to search a bit themselves.

One thing I love about there forums is the fact that I recognize many of the people that post, and have come to respect their knowledge. On slow days at work I don't think I could make it through the day without the warlocks den and my fantasy sports teams! I find the variety of posts is great here, a perfect blend of useful info, help, sarcasm, and funny stories. The effort Akasha and soooooo many other people put into these forums to make them what they are does not go unnoticed. We are a long way from the OF, lets keep it that way.

The search DOES help. It's been tweaked A LOT to make search results more relevant. And why should other people point them to a link if they don't want to? It's not up to other people to do the searches for them. Seariously... searching isn't that hard. Taking a moment to read the stickies isn't that hard. Taking even 5 minutes to try and see if the question you're about to ask has been asked before ISN'T HARD.

I'm so sick of people coming to the site, registering and IMMEDIATELY hitting new post without taking even a second to think if they could find the answer on their own.

You may think that the Warlock's Den is becoming rude... personally I think it's out of spoons. After FIVE YEARS of the same threads, some people, myself included, are sick to the teeth of seeing them.

Bingo! And Valcoris gets a cookie!! Yes things went down hill for a bit... I was a new mum who couldn't even find time to brush her hair for a bit there. But I've gotten into a bit of a routine, I have time at night to sit down and read everything again. And there's a hell of a lot of orange being splashed around.

I do find it a little ironic that people like yourself are leaving because of the way the forum was heading... notice the "was". And yet, I step in and try to bring it back to what it was and... people are leaving. LOL. You can't please everyone, so I aim to please myself. The past 4 months was getting my real life sorted, now it also includes these boards.

Thank you for quoting my thread Neej. I stand by that and am very pleased you remembered.

This is a public forum and people from all around the world are posting here. You will get different opinions, maturity levels, ideas and ways of expression.

It is wrong to appoint yourself judge of peoples intelligence with comments like:

"Total garbage and people kept replying to it -> affirming that stupidity."

Give people a chance to be themselves without being so critical, you will find these differences the strength of this forum rather than the weakness.
