Pillow fight record attempt

HAVING sleepless nights over that over-achiever in your political science class? Lecturer not giving you the marks you deserve for that economics paper?

Tomorrow, thousands of students at a South African university will have the chance to seek revenge during a mass pillow fight which organisers hope will be recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest ever staged.

"We are trying to break a record set in March this year at a university in the United States by some 2400 pillow-fighters," said Paul Booth, organiser of the brawl at Johannesburg's Wits University.

"We are hoping that thousands of students will take part, which aims to give everybody on the campus - lecturers too - a chance to interact," Mr Booth, a second-year philosophy student, told AFP.

He said observers from Guinness would be on hand to verify the attempt.

The last official record, according to the Guinness World Record website, was set by 645 pillow-slingers at the Anderson County Courthouse Square in Gannet, Kansas, in June last year.

Since then, there had been several other attempts, but it was not known whether they had been officially recognised by Guinness.

Will everyone have to do it in their underwear? Girls hair in rollers? Facial packs on? /snickers... the Guinness Book of World Records does hold some very odd records ;)
