Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)

We've been doing some playing today, and it looks like part of the problem is the angle when typing. For example, now the laptop is sitting on my lap, with me sitting on the couch. Before, when most of the problems were happening, I was sitting on the floor with the laptop sitting on the couch. So the laptop was more at chest level as opposed to waist level it is now. Now sure if that's all the problem, but it's certainly a little bit of immediate help. |

Or the way the toilet flushes! Hehe I sit on the floor so Miss S can easily get to me - or more to the point, know I am there so she can play with her toys happily. As soon as I sit on the couch with the laptop on my lap, she thinks she's missing out on something and wants up.

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
Update... my Laptop died!
![]() Yesterday I using it, closed it down (shut the lid - sleep mode) to put Savannah down for a nap, came back and lifted the lid and nothing... rebooted, nothing. We took it back to where we bought it from (just a store) as they have a technician on site, he had a bit of a look and blamed the hard drive. Brougt it home and hubby had a look at it, yup definatly hard drive. I've got to take it back to the store to be shipped off the manufacturer to be looked at. Hopefully that is/was the cause of the typing issues and when I get it back it will work better. *crosses fingers* ![]() |

Also if zero punctuation taught me anything, it's probably the 9" ones that came out 3 or 4 months ago everywhere else. Technology hates australia when it comes to game releases anyway. And we know how much effort blizzard put into making sure your servers are optimised (ie leaving them a few thousand miles away) That's the cynic in me though. Someone may actually know. edit: I've never installed vista, I don't have the hard disk space and I want more RAM. This week I'm ordering 4gb of RAM and a new hard drive for my PC. Some time in the future I'll buy another 4gb (2x2gb at 1000mhz when I'm done with the BIOS) and get vista 64 bit home premium. I've installed it for my friend however, and aside from a few options being set up badly, and it being overly geared to luddites and people who like being patronised and hand held through PC usage (I like to be well signed and occasionally hinted at but I know what I want from my PC) it's not horrendous. By the time I get it, I'm expecting a reasonable OS. Though mostly I want it for DX11. Last edited by Devicus; July 28, 2008 at 04:55 AM.. |

Make sure you make the PC Doctor aware of the typing issue so that it can be looked at while it is in PC Hospital. Don't assume they will do a comprehensive checkup without you demanding that it be done. Or you might get your broken PC back with its new Drive to only find out later that it has cancer.

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
Yep, mavric, that reminds me of my xbox360. Had it sent back 3 times (no video signal on the monitor after the first 3h of GTA4), always received a "we fixed motherboard, power, dvd etc" and realized (after the third exchange) that it was the video-cable (the only thing you have to spare sending your xbox back for repair, luckily we had a cable at the office so I could check it myself).
Moral of the story: never trust the repair-service! Anyway, good luck for your new notebook Akasha! |

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
Yeah, we've made them aware of the typing issue. Although the guy we were speaking to seemed a little dim. That or he just had really bad customer service.
I took it in today to be sent off and the tech guy wasn't there, so another lady helped me. She had less clue what was going on and kept asking me why it wouldn't boot up - and that she needed it to boot up to see what was wrong with it. Urg, duh, not booting up IS what's wrong with it. At this point I'll just be happy if I manage to get it BACK. When money's this tight, I don't want my 'not yet paid for' toy to go missing... |

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
I tried Vista with my last laptop, but it wouldn't stay connected to my wireless network. Once I installed linux, it was smooth sailing. Never once lost connection again.
It did require a level of linux literacy to pull off to my standards, but I could have made due with less, as well. Best of luck! |

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
Have you contact the manufacturers customer support directly? Maybe cutting out the middle man will insure a positive outcome.
