UAC stands for User Account Control. A "feature" in Vista that pops up a window every time you attempt to do something that alters system or restricted files in your computer. So if you wanted to install a program that would add to the system registry, a UAC window would pop up alerting you that the program wants to edit the registry and give you options to allow or block that action. This, while extremely annoying, gives your computer an added level of security from malicious software/viruses/etc that attempt to infiltrate your system. |

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
aha, thank you.
Indeed very annoying i must say. I must say that this forum is really mindblowing. Since warlocks are naturally evil one would assume that a forum, in wich only warlocks meet, everyone would be trying to make an as good reputation as possible. Meaning flaming eachother with Soulfire's most of the time, but then you turn out to be nice and helpful. Sort of like a teddybear whom you can hug when you'r loneley. (Doesn't that sound warlock-ish to you? xD) Thank you all. You always make my day better :D |

![]() I've noticed, both in game and especially on the forum here, that there is a sort of "Honor among theves". That is, Warlocks tend to respect each other and there for, treat each other better than they do other classes. |

Gritz - ![]() ![]() Pernicious - I agree that Vista is very "pretty". When I created this thread however, I was getting spammed with 'are you sure?' messages and a gazillion other annoyances. I was ready to throw the damn thing across the room... Quote:

Re: Is it Suckista? (Vista)
Warlocks stick together. The amount of stick for being OP (and yet when it comes round to instance time no one wants us despite being OP) means people who play warlocks are treated well because we get enough crap from mages as is.
As for vista, with any application, especially an OS, you should take the sort of attitude that says "if it says you need 1gig, take 2 or more, if it says you need a 2ghz processor, take a dual core". Vista says it requires 1 gig of RAM, so laptops with 1 gig and an internal graphics card that then steals 256meg were pushed on the unsuspsecting public, ie they got underspecced machines. Anyway, that annoyance aside. Vista is by default configured for morons. Why? Because stupidity causes most security breaches, well, and laziness. Either you went somewhere stupid, clicked somewhere stupid, or a sensible site was SQL injected because someone else was stupid, lazy and selfish and didn't patch their site, despite it being a government one (and they want to log all out data, aside from being scared of big brother, I can only see incompetant civil servants losing, abusing, or misusing out data anyway) Rant aside, and slowly back on topic, as you're not a moron, you'll need to go and make the epic journey to change the settings. It's probably quite difficult, but then I guess that stops stupid people changing them. |
