Re: Why are people so weak

I'd go more in depth, but I'm about to step into a meeting.

I'm raid leader for Self Titled on Mal'Ganis. We're a textbook casual raiding guild. We only go 2 nights a week, with a very rare third night if there is a good raid. We've gone through our share of trials, for exactly the reasons you mention. We're something of a gateway guild, getting people into raiding and then losing them to a more serious guild. We've been in existence through all of MC, and are currently 5/5 4/9. Bloodboil may die tonight, but we're missing some of our healers, so maybe not.

Basically all I can say is don't give up hope. There are positions out there for the two a week crowd, either in a guild with that as their focus, or as an alternate in a more serious guild who is looking for dedicated, knowledgeable players to fill in when needed.

Keeping a guild like ours together is very, very hard. We have a lot of people who's commitment is to Self Titled, and not to their own goals in the game. We constantly have people looking for more raiding in our guild, but we don't have the numbers right now to support both sides. Our retention is built on atmosphere and people. I get a TON of people that pursue a raid spot elsewhere, and leave all their alts in our guild because they like the people, and they come back when their guild invariably dies.

Well said. It is unfortunate that more people don't understand this.

No QQ or GTFO!

Joking, when my guild disbanded i stopped seeing some friends, but started seeing some others ex guildies IRL, and me and my closes friend continued to play.

Its hard, but it shall pass and maybe you will find a guild better suited for you. GL.

Re: Why are people so weak

My guild kicked me even though i told the Guild master I am going camping 4 times this month (August)
And I go camping from April to November at least once or twice a month and I told him when I joined that is what I do.

I wouldn't have joined if I knew he had a problem with it.

But I have decided to put my warlock on mule mode (she enchants so great for disenchanting stuff)
So I can level up my druid and wait for Wrath of the Lich King to come out.

Even though raiding is fun I wish there were other things to the game. I hate PVP completely it just angers me. And doing instances all the time gets boring. Why can't there be more solo content? Sure it's a multiplayer game but half the people on my server are brain dead. (Duskwood)

My druid has a new task and is leveling up by doing every quest she can possibly do. Even hope to go and try and Solo some of the old world stuff before going to Out lands.

Even I have been asking myself that lately. With Spore due to be released in September, I may be spending my very limited free time there for a while. My mind has also wandered over to the 'I wonder what the next big MMO will be and will I be crazy enough to create another website if/when WoW ever dies' line of thought - or goes to the kiddies, which judging my the latest emails I've been receiving, might have already happened.

Re: Why are people so weak

Looking at the other end of the scale though, I'm in a casual guild. Our raiding progress is pretty good when we raid. And this is the problem. Two times a week in a 25 man is great for me. But the problem is when you turn up and the raid doesn't happen. Repeatedly, and you watch your progress slowly stall, spend time wiping when you are there, because 4 or 5 people all screw up on really easy fights over and over (you know the ones, the "I just have to finish this cast" ones). Well, you can sympathise with people getting fed up. It's great having a guild you can get on with, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but I can sympathise with people getting fed up with casual guilds, because being dissapointed once and sometimes twice a week is not fun.

The next week came, and these same people who agreed to run didn't show up. It's frustrating to me that you have to depend so much on other people. If everyone in the guild is not on the same page, there is not much that can be done.

Times change, people move on. That will happen, and do NOT consider yourself as a person who was "left" behind. Their needs / wants changed and they did what was best for them. There is no shame or apology in that.

You need to make sure you take care of you now.

Quite cliched and I somewhat disagree. Whatever you do with your time, work, go out drinking and playing WoW all falls under the large umbrella of life.

You can make the statement about "it just being. . ." with everything under that umbrella then.

Hey, the game brings entertainment and that can not just be washed away.

10 million accounts. Thats what happened to WoW. Back when I started there was only somthing along the lines of like 4 million players I think. I've noticed over the years that each time Blizz has declared a new milestone in X million players, the quality of the players I'm playing with has steadily declined. MMOs before WoW were somthing of a novelty. Most the "gamers" that played were typically in their mid 20's to 30s, hence they had a level of maturity about them.

I still remember my first guild Forsaken Guardians. It was my first wow toon, a mage, and I was running Deadmines with some guildies. They asked the GL, a level 40ish rogue, to "run" us through DM. I remember his "running" us through. He didn't rip his way through mobs run us through. He stood on the side lines and directed us through. He taught the tank how to pull mobs to him instead of charging in. ("You guys are 60 badass' yet, learn to control the mobs" is one of the things he told them.) He showed the rogue how to assist the tank with mob control. He gave tips to the healer and me the mage. He tought us how to play our classes in a group. You don't have that anymore now days. You have a bunch of kids that want to be handed everything, and they find someone that will do it. In the proccess they never learn what they need to learn along the way.
