OK so i download and start Playing the PTR and as soon as i log in a lil box pops up saying "YOUR NAME HAS BEEN FLAGGED FOR NAME CHANGE" NOOOOOOOOO I LUV MY NAME....Ive talked to GMs on my server before they never anything to me and People only give me compliments about my name hahah Grrrrrr I hope i really dont have to change my name....Any suggestions for when Wrath of the Lich King comes out and will have to face the inevitable....

I think everyone has to change their name upon entering the ptr. I copied four of my toons onto the ptr and I had to change all four names.

Yeah, whenever you copy a toon to the PTR, you have to change its name. That's how they check to see if there are duplicate names. Just one of those things.

OH thank god so im not losing my name...phew ty for the info...as you prolly guessed yea its my first PTR ive been playin WoW for only lil under a year

I copied 3 of my characters over to the PTR and all of them kept their names. Just because it says you have been flagged for a name change doesn't mean the name is in use. Try your name first, it will tell you if it is unavailable or not.

Umm it's the PTR and will be wiped in a couple weeks. It's also an amalgam of players from many servers, nobody know who you are .... who cares if you have to change your name?

I took it as an opportunity to play with a different hat on, so to speak.

Try retyping your name, you'll notice their is a ! after it when you copy a toon, I just retyped my characters names and was able to keep them.
