You'll be fine. WoW is much heavier on system RAM then on video card. Not to say that video card *doesn't* matter, but that card is more than hefty enough.

On the other hand, if you only have 512 meg of RAM, I'd definitely try for another 512 - 1 gig.

At 512 you'll notice loading stutters in larger areas or when flying. At one gig, you'll load smoothly. At 1.5 gig you'll not only load smoothly, you'll be able to Alt-Tab seamlessly to desktop (assuming that you don't have a video-card / driver related issue with doing so.)

What are your other system specs?

I have a p4 2 ghz with 1 gig of ram
unfortunatly my current Mobo wont support more than 1 gig.... but atm 1 gig seems to be enough to run the current crop of games....
(getting a full upgrade in 3 months.... cant wait :D )

1GB is a good spot to be for any MMORPG (or anything these days).
they'll typically use up as much RAM as they can and i've monitored both CoH and WoW pushing over 900MB of RAM used.

Video card: going with the nvidia 6800 gt 256 mb card

going to spend arround 1 k for all of this and it better last me a while =P

It will. That's a solid configuration, and the Athlon 64 3400+ will out-game even the fastest P4's 9/10 times in a row, if not more. There are few-to-no games that currently prefer Intel over AMD at the moment.

Not even almighty Quake 3. ;)

the seven days i played wow in OB i ran it on the following:

2.4ghz
512 ram
geforce 5200 (128mb)
56k modem from sweden

and basically the only problem i had was when looting or when reviving. it could take time. the only time i had a little occational lag was when i was in ironforge but after 5mins i didnt even think about that any more.

I have a P4 1.8 w/ 512 and GeForce 3.

During the beta I had no video lag.

In DAOC live I have video lag.

This was a big part of my decision to quit DAOC to play WoW.
