Can't Sleep...

Ok, biggest negative of all the 'Do I / Don't I open the site up to Mages /More DPS' thing? I can't sleep!!!

LOL I lay down and a gazillion and 3 things run through my head. I could do it this way, or that way. I could make it part of this site, create a whole new one, nah that's too much work, but I don't want to upset my current memberbase I'd be lost without them, ok start a new thread asking, wait no just forget it, ok can't forget it go start a poll.

1am and I'm still sitting here LOL

Sorry to hear it Akasha,

I was thinking, if you did set up a subdomain/second site (assuming there was an easy way to do so, even if it shared the dens database or something) You could always pick up some Moderators to help with that area of the site. Keeping them focused might help.

I saw a lot of people argue on keeping it casters and keeping hunters/rogues/and even DKs out, but I was thinking, you could make it pet classes only to include hunters/Death Knights, and possibly mages/shaman with their summoned temporary pets... But it appears the site isn't going in that direction after all.

I think that if a trial-by-fire approach with the Mages works out, then perhaps the Den members would be more open to letting in another class later on.

Oh for sure on the Moderators - originally I had thought Mages/Hunter and would put Mage mods on for the mage section, Hunter for the Hunter. If it does expand to Mages, then I will still put more mods / mage mods on. I like actually having time now and have gotten over my 'I can do it all on my own' mindset hehe.

Eeek, 10 mins from 2am. I'm going to be sorry tomorrow.

As I said in the other post, i think its a good idea, and a Mage site would be great, but I think if you merged them it would ultimately kill the den. I liked the Conjur's Corner idea, but I would still break down the sub-sites into The Warlocks Den and The Mages Den. Have the general Wrath of the Lich King...etc non-specific topics at the Conjur's Corner level, and specific class stuff under each den. Then if you decided to add a unters den, it is simple for you...etc.

On that note, just FYI..not sure if you saw this or not...

Hrm lol, hadn't seen those links lol. Can't see the first one atm as it looks like official forums are down for maint. If that's a forum for mages however, then perhaps that helps me make up my mind - in that I don't need to do it?

I'm starting to get frustrated at myself lol, I simply can't make a bloomin decision. I think 'yes I will' and then half an hour later 'no, stick with what you have'. Half hour later 'yes I want to grow and expand', then an hour later 'it's too much work'.

I've sat here for the past hour trying to work out how I'd do the forum layout and just can't decide about some stuff. Arg!!

Well, you have done a great job with this site and I'm sure that whatever you decide will turn out to be the best decision for you and your family. IMO, it would take A LOT of work to add those other classes and to maintain the very high quality standard you have set with this site. Only you can answer if you have that time or not. Coming from someone that also does websites, please know that this is a very well designed, implemented, and supported site.

Ok, just managed to see the official forums link. Good luck to them, saves me one decision and a whole lot of work. With Mage's now having a home, that means all classes do, and thus rules out the need to create a DPS forum?

I guess it means I can concentrate solely on the site here. I just wish there was a way to keep all those ex-Warlock rerollers here on top of current Warlocks. Need to keep the numbers up, or this newly purchased server box is not going to eat a hole in my purse, it's going to eat the whole damn purse!

I like the idea of being able to access a site for my hunter, my Warlock
is still my first love though.

Perhaps the Den as the top forum and then Us Warlocks can have access to the Sub sections for the other classes.
So that we can learn about the other classes, but not
get swamped by a whole crop of new people.
Still it is a lot of work.

This would make it easier for us to pass the site on to our friends who play those classes, hence keeping the community on a solid foundation.

My 2c.
