WoW vs EQII
I was wondering if any of you out there have played both games and have some insight on this. I was really set on playing EQII for a while there, but then I started reading on WoW and I changed my tune. :D
I also noticed in the PCgamer mag I subscribe to, there are alot of referneces to Wow, and very little to EQII, is this odd to anyone else? just a thought Sil |

WoW vs EQII
I managed to get into the EQII beta and promptly handed over the rego key to Thor because I knew I wouldn't touch it. Apart from the fact it wouldn't run on my computer, the graphics look plastic which is ironic considering how "life like" SOE were aiming for, not my kind of thing I look for in a game.
I could care less about anyone that jumps onto the "bash SOE bandwagon" because everyone else does it and to be honest I'm sick of it. I judged it purely on if it appealed to, it didn't. From speaking to long time friends with opinions I trust, the starting tutorial you start out with is harder to follow than the entirety of WoW itself. Graphics are bland, you are forced to group and even the highest of high end computers can't have details up to max. I know Thor jumped back on EQI the other night because his 10 day guest pass has expired and just from speaking to his guild, a lot of which tried EQII, 90% of them are returning to EQI. It's the case with a lot of people, they tried, they returned. On the flip side, those who tried WoW have stuck with it... kinda says something. ;) |

WoW vs EQII
I think the thing people should realize is that these two games provide different niches of gameplay for MMO players. From what I can tell of WoW, it appeals more to the casual gamer, while also having things for the hardcore gamers (PvP and raids) as well.
EQ2 appeals more specifically to the uber gamers of the hardcore, requiring grouping to get past level 20 or so (from what people in my old guild from EQ are saying), high end raids to get your uber gear, etc. I would never outright bash Sony or EQ2, but in saying that, WoW definitely appeals to my style of play, and to the amount of time I can actually put into playing it. I have limited time to play, but when I do, I feel that I actually accomplish things. I am positive I would not feel the same way if I were to be on EQ2, and I didn't feel like I accomplished much when playing EQ after my playing time was greatly reduced from work etc. |

All in all, that's is something that WoW players have over most EQ players... the ability to see each game for it's own features. Demta hit it on the head by saying WoW is more for the casual gamer... at the moment, as most know I haven't even been on WoW other than a little hello here and there because I am working on the site. In EQ I would have been left behind, but in WoW I can jump on when ever, do a quest here, a quest there, slaughter some murlocs and put my hosting companies logo on them.. .... If you have a lot of time, and determination to play it, then you could probably do well in EQ2. So long as you don't mind plastic graphics and annoying features of course ;) |

I didn't want it to detract from the information Silladar was after... ironically it seems to have anyway. |
