Xbox vs Playstation
Ok guys, I need your help!! Hubby and I have decided to guy a console for Xmas. I'm no longer playing WoW (as you all know) which has also affected his enjoyment of the game. Poor bugger. The biggest issue with that though, is that WoW used be our together game... and well, it's not anymore. We have a Wii and hired Mario Kart to kill a night or two. We loved it! Especially when we learnt we could play online against other people. Consequently, I'm off to buy a copy of Mario Kart today LOL! So, we want to get a console. We're pretty much set on an Xbox because apparently it has more games, better games and more online/multiplayer games. But, in the interest of being fully informed before making a purchase, I thought I'd ask you all. Which do you prefer, and why? Which is the bestter choice for us if the important things include:

depends on what you are looking for I'd say; Both have multiplayer games. As for better games, well beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. PS3 is safer for someone not wanting to have to buy a new console next year for the newest games/titles and if I'm not mistaken the online multiplayer aspect is free? You might want to double check that though. Also the blue-ray player with PS3. If you have some money to burn feel free to get the PS3 but the Xbox 360 is the cheaper alternative. Xbox has a decent marketplace and I know netflix works very well with it. I'm happy with my 360 but my buddy loves his PS3 (and yes the graphics are amazing if you are into that sort of thing). If it helps you any, if I had the money to burn I'd probably go get a PS3 now... multiplayer tie variety xbox has more/cheaper games atm online experience tie (you have to pay for xbox, ps3 i think is free but honestly I don't like all the little kids playing xbox nowadays) reliability ps3 Last edited by Carnall; July 22, 2009 at 06:41 PM.. |

Project Natal is awesome. Or atleast will be. It basically takes the graphics of the XBox, the get off the couch aspect of the Wii, then removes the need for a controller. It's going to be amazing when it comes out. Here's another video: Project Natal

XBOX Fanboys! pfft - I have both consoles and been a lurker here for quite a while, anyway.. the xbox's project Natal is nice... but the PS3 one has much more accuracy and real scanning of images, not just colour as xbox can do I believe, YouTube - E3 Sony Conference PS3 Motion Sensor YouTube - AMAZING PS3 EYE TOY FOOTAGE ps3's eyetoy is currently more accurate than 'natal' btw.. Both the ps3 and xbox are competitive from LBP to xbox's new creation app/homebrew apps, both have a nice interface, both are having motion controllers, xbox is getting Sky (if you have subscription) in HD, and PS3 has freesat/freeview via PlayTV already coming in HD via freesat, ps3 is free online, and a lot of good variety of games etc, xbox's market place has peggle and uno.. so I don't know... altho home on the ps3 is pretty funky! it's your choice, i'm a ps3 fan myself, however the xbox is looking good.. oh, and for the PS3.. They've mentioned that Project Natal does more than color. It's camera can do facial recognition, in the video it recognizes what the girl drew on the paper (a fish) as well as it's color, It also will scan in objects and render them in the game for you (as seen by the skateboard demo). I'm not sure how PS3's eye toy could possibly compete with Project Natal (See Video) or how it's seen as being more accurate (the monsters didn't actually move until he stopped moving the cards around). Plus, the eye toy seems to be geared towards looking down at things you place in front of it. Penny Arcade said that it works very well, but they had trouble getting the correct lighting for the sensor to actually pick up what they laid in front of it. I'm still placing my money with Project Natal. I can't speak much to the Playstation, I've used PS3 a few times, and I'll admit the graphics are pretty damn nice. Having an incorporated Blu Ray player is also very attractive. I am not very fond of the UI for the council though. Haven't they been working on creating their own version of the Mii's and the Xbox avatars since they first produced the PS3? It's still not up and running from what I understand. I love netflicks on the Xbox. It's very fast, and very crisp. I've yet to have an issue with it. I don't consider myself a fanboy of anything. I appreciate all technology equally. I've worked with Various shades of Windows, Mac's, Linix, and even unix based computers, I play Xbox, Wii, and even a little Playstation when I get the chance (it's the only one I don't own) and always look up new technologies (Windows 7 is looking pretty sweet btw). I think there is great value in PS3, but in the near future I believe Xbox is going to lead the market.

Yeah, upon second looks of the Project Natal videos, it does look very good with the technology Couple more videos I found on the PS3 anyway with regards to there EyeToy more than that silly controller thing.. YouTube - AMAZING PS3 EYE TOY FOOTAGE YouTube - Ps3 eye tech demo !!!!!! - tech demo and eyedentify, i've not tried netflix on the xbox yet, i'll give it a peek! i'm more a wow warlock player than a ps3/xbox guy, but I own both ;p |
