Laptop problem
Hi everyone, I woke up to a wonderful surprise this morning. I turned my laptop on and while I could tell it went through its normal boot process, I had absolutely no picture on the screen at all. I rebooted a couple times and still get nothing. Any ideas what it could be? I'm gonna try hooking up an external monitor tonight to see if that does anything, at least then i may be able to narrow it down to the actual screen or the video card or motherboard. Someone also suggested holding a flashlight behind the corner of the screen to see if it was a back light tube/driver. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Laptop problem
Honestly, none of your options are really that good. The external monitor is your best bet. If your really lucky everything is working and just the LCD screen or the LCD backlight had gone out. If the problem is your vid card you'll be in since the vid card in most laptops is simply a chip on the mobo they generally require a new mobo. Even if it's the screen or backlight, you'll still have trouble. Both parts are generally really hard to find, expensive and a pain in the ass to replace. GL.

Re: Laptop problem
the connection to your monitor is dead? my former laptop had that, altho in my case it was the entire wiring that was broken ( god knows how that happens ) no fix on my end, i have new laptop now i don't think jacking in another monitor would help since if it boots, all the display settings would be handled by Windows ( or w/e OS you run ). Can't see OS? can't extend your laptop display to another monitor |
