Playstation2 not working right

Would anyone know by chance know why in the world my PS2 only will play PS1 game right, while it will not even play my PS2 games anymore. I thought for a while i broke the len or whatnot until it started to play PS1 games

Thank you in advance if anyone knows

PS: I will not be getting a PS3 anytime soon and really don;t want to buy another PS2 system. Does make christmas easier when all you have to do is buy my brother PS2 game for christmas makes life and shopping so much easier that time of the year

Your laser sounds like it is out of alignment. It is a simple fix if you can find someone in your area to do it. Unfortunately the PS2 is notorious for this and the problem is extremely common.

There are a few possibilities regarding the laser and why its failing to work properly. The most common one is easily fixable, if your comfortable working with electronics google it and you can find some good guides that will help you fix it.

Seems like a good guild on how to fix some of the problems, need to reread it so i can fix the problem correctly myself. Have heard in the past that going to a place to have even a simple problem fix could cost alot.

I charge $45.00 personally but finding someone in your area is the tricky part. If you decide to price the fix before attempting yourself, I would ask around at local game stores they are liable to know someone. I also remember a segment on one of the G4 shows where they walked you through the fix so you may try their web site for instructions.

I do see the G4 page with alot of info on it last night just need to look it up again. been having alot about lens could be dusty and/or need to be readjusted
