How do you pronounce "meh" ?

I am not a native english-speaker and am trying to improve it by any way, Internet and WoW have been a very good source

I've bumped several times into the word "Meh".

Nothing in the dictionnary of course (e.g. Merriam-Webster)..
Some Googling informed me that Meh is a kind of interjection used for anything, such as the spoken way of expressing a shoulder *shrug* ...

My question is : HOW do you pronounce it ? (I haven't seen the Simpson episode mentioned in the comments of the linked site)

Like the "ea" in "tea" ?
Like the "a" in "mate" ?
Like the "you" in "surround" ?
Like the "e" in "escape" ?
something else ?

I speak French, Spanish and Dutch in case you want to make parallels with other languages.

So accordingly, the e is pronuced like e in bed....so ma-e? I don't know, my grammer sucks (I went to public schools in California).

Imagine if you managed to frighten a sheep, it's kind of like that. It's like an "yeah what ever" thing...

I think the closest would be like e in escape. It's got that "eh" sound to it. There you go, it's "eh?" with a mmm in front...

Perhaps it would help to take the word "Medicine" and remove the "dicine" part... only pronounce the first syllable.

Add a little bit of "h" at the end there, and that's pretty much it.

Great word, I use it a lot.

Thats actually how I started the word...

I shrugged my shoulders and said "meh" without the "m"

later I added the "M" to "eh" and created "meh" which is now the popular term that mimicks the shoulder shrug

But if learning from books & newspapers can give you the best theorical language possible, you'd still miss the common slang, and that's how people know you learned hard !

Now I can order the Meh flask on thinkgeek and not be ignorant as how to pronounce it
