Post Hellfire, where to go?

Hokay, I've cleared out all the hellfire quests I could find, and what amazing rewards! I've learned more tailoring skills, and am swapping between netherweave items as I gain levels (best plan for me is to wear two pieces for the set bonus, but not too many other pieces so I don't neglect +int entirely).

Maybe I was spoiled by Hellfire, but I went and looked at quests in Zangarmarsh and Terrokar, and neither of them were as exciting, reward-wise, as Hellfire. Are things just cooling down, or am I looking in the wrong place? Most of the quests I've seen give good XP and some gold, but not much in the way of item rewards.

I'd love a new cloak to replace my old Shadow Wrath thing, but there don't seem to be all that many in evidence.

Any pointers? Oh yeah, I'm alliance, so keep that in mind.

Re: Post Hellfire, where to go?

I'm horde, but I've noticed the same thing. After completeing all the quests in Hellfire I moved on to Zangarmarsh (sp?) and quickly realized that most rewards were not worth it, as far as quest rewards went. Drops in CFR are extremely nice, but I tend to avoid 5 mans while leveling other than completeing dungeon quests. The same goes for Terrokar, which I'm currently finishing up. ACtually, some of the quests in The Bone Wastes, the southwestern part of Terrokar, gave some nice rewards, but nothing that upgraded my gear significantly (I"m still wearing T2 / T 2.5). If you don't mind skipping the content and want to just grind out for level 70 and new gear, then I suggest moving on to Nagrand, probably better drops and quest rewards. I am trying to complete every quest possible on my way to 70, both the enjoy everything each zone has to offer, as well as earn gold for my new mount. I have not don't any tradeskilling so far in The Burning Crusade, so just from grinding out quests and selling everything that drops off mobs I've earned around 700g, and I'm only level 66.

Re: Post Hellfire, where to go?

I think Blizz dropped great rewards in Hellfire to help get people ready for beyond. I am now in Nagrand and the drops are still nice but again nothing worth really upgrading. In Alerian Strong hold there is a great stave that is an awesome reward. I absolutly hated Hellfire but the rewards were great!

The other zones are beautiful and earn rep with sporegard or whatever it is called they have a nice stave as well. But your right it does cool down on the Blue quest rewards a bit after Hellfire.

Warlike I also reccomend against avoiding 5 man instances on your way to level. I am getting much XP and way faster in 5 mans. I can gain three bubbles in two hours questing grinding and gain the same amount in in 1 hour (Assuming we finish the instance) in 5 mans.

Good luck all

Re: Post Hellfire, where to go?

I'm in the same boat as Warlike. Although, I have been trying to run each instance relevant to my level just to see the place(s). Just hit 65 last night and in Terrokar finishing up everything. I actually don't know which direction to go. Blade's Edge Mtns. seems not too bad starting at 66 (when I'll most likely move on), but I think Nagrand might also be good for that level so we'll see. hehe

Re: Post Hellfire, where to go?

The initial quests in Zanga aren't as exciting or rewarding but it does get better towards the end of clearing that area, and the splish splosh splash sound of walking/riding through the marshlands is rewarding enough, no!?

The one thing I have noticed is the lack of good lock drops, especially socketed items, in the four initial instances, rampart, furnace, underbog and slave pens, although Underbog does have a nice vest drop on the 3rd or 4th boss (can't recall which). The amount of times I have shouted, "Yes", only to spot that it is "+healing" rather than "+damage and +healing" /mutter /mutter

/agreed. In general, I'm actually really disappointed by the lack of overall dps cloth stuff. I got that vest (dropped the one time I went to Underbog) and socketed it with what I could to make up the +damage and stamina, but at this point good caster-oriented gems aren't so available. =\

Yep, I did that on a wand last night. It had +32 healing and I 'almost' got excited lol.

To answer your question directly I would hit Zangarmarsh and complete 'most' of the quest there, then hit Terokkar and do most of the quest there and when you hit 65 just go straight to Nagrand. There is alot of 'grind' type of quests. (Kill 30 birds, then Kill 30 Stags, then Kill 30 cleftbulls) you turn those in and then you have to kill 30 more of other things. It does take a bit of time to do these quests, but I love them. You grind your butt off getting nice XP, and skins if you are a skinner like me. THen you turn it in and you get like 1100 xp. I went up 3 bars just on that one safari quest area easily. I still have more 30 mobs to kill tonight lol. So far Nagrand is best for questing so far. I am sure it gets better. Now onto the quest reward discussion.

I too noticed some nice rewards in Hellfire. It didn't really replace too much, as I was in mostly PVP epics with some 3/8 nem set bonuses. I think I found more at the auction house like the Netherweave 2 set bonuses with great +stam and +damage than anything. I am sitting at +684 spell damage with Fel Armor buff and I am affliction. Demo I go over +800. I just hope we get some nice quests to replace some T2 type of gear before I reach 70.

So far I have managed to replace my wand and my necklace and added a couple of trinkets which were nice.

Has anyone noticed that some of the rewards in Negrand at level 66 are actually lower than some of Hellfire level 61 type rewards? Weird eh?

Anything nice in other zones that I can look out for?

Re: Post Hellfire, where to go?

Zarngramarsh, like many have said, is pretty crummy when compared to Hellfire. There's one quest chain I think you will find extremely rewarding:

Spirits of the Feralfen
A Spirit Ally?

The reward after the second part is the Ancient Crystal Talisman. A trinket which increases damage and healing effects by 26 when equipped and by 104 for 20 seconds when used.

The rest of the rewards have mostly been comparable to, or worse than the gear from Hellfire quests, or my PvP blues I walked into Outland with.

I have not run any instances, but I hear that it's really the way to go.

Terrokar is something I just started on now, and I really haven't hit any quests I've liked or any that have given me decent rewards. The Grangol'var questline is pure pain and agony. I strongly reccomend grouping with people even though it's all marked as yellow, non-group.
