Gear - change of focus? Options?
Well, as a newly minted level 45, I am begining to seriously think about the type of gear I should be getting. I am heavy afflic. spec (35/0/0) at the moment and my focus has been on +stam +int gear. My damage bonus is only at +14 shadow. As I start nearing 50, 60, & 70, I would like to be a little more educated in the types of gear I should be going after (names/links would be great) at the various level from here on out.
Any thoughts? Thanks! |

Re: Gear - change of focus? Options?
As an aff lock, your primary focus should be on +shadow damage. Try to pick up the shadoweave set, which is perfect for your level. Just ask for a tailor/warlock to make you the set. It requires around 250 skill in tailoring to make all the pieces. The next most important stat is stam. Int falls down to third place. Almost all your damage will be shadow and you will see the mobs dropping much faster for much less mana cost. Drain tanking will vastly improve inspite the fact that you'll be losing a good chunk of stam when you switch over. I rarely end a fight with less than 3/4 health and that's only if it got bad.

Re: Gear - change of focus? Options?
Thanks for the quick and helpful replies.
I have a 350 tailor in my guild (dont know if she has the patterns for the shadowweave set tho as she is a mage). How long could I expect to hold on to the Shadowweave set? Would it be worth it to get some chants on it to make up for the loss in +STAM/INT? That is, will I have it for 10-15 levels (yes, Im a nub )?Most of the gear I have now is "of the eagle" type except for the lock bloodrobes and chapaou head piece from Scarlet Mon. boss. Im running at a little over +100 in both stam and int with my current gear, but as I said, only +14 to shadow damage. ![]() |

Re: Gear - change of focus? Options?
The shadoweave trainer is located the same place you train your warlock is stormwind so it is unlikely that your mage friend would have picked them up by chance. Not sure about horde location. Not sure how long the gear will last. According to some people, they accumulate a fair bit more +damage on their way up to level 58, but the big push is to get to outlands for the really nice equipment. I will be picking up any equipment that will improve, but at this point, I have no idea what that might be. I've heard of several people that where still using some level 30 stuff all the way into their upper 50s so I'm assuming there isn't much really good stuff till late game.

I've seen the master shadowweave trainer in Undercity roughly near the warlock trainers. Might have to look around a bit.

Re: Gear - change of focus? Options?
I did some checking and for horde (I am a BE), the shadoweave trainer is Josephine Lister (she is an undead) and she is located in the Mage quarter in the Under City. She is outside of the structure where the lock/mage trainers are--standing to right of it if you are facing the structure--in front of a wagon/cart. I dont have access to my comp right now, so I cant give coords.
