So I wear noob gear..?

Recently I got 2/2 Spellstrike Infusion;
http://armory.wow-europe.com/?#chara...&n=Dami%C3%ABn
So I went with a friend of mine to do some arena and I got a whisper after winning a match. 'Randomperson' said (translated to normal english): 'Hey, why are you wearing those mage items? Battlecast Garb is the set for locks!'. So did I just waste 4100g for a mage set? Sure I realize that the +crit is useless for affliction but the +hit and the huge amounts of +spelldmg are just lovely.

What do you think?

personally I think spellstrike is best for PvE and battlecast for PvP. Depends on how much hit/etc you have on other pieces though.

Re: So I wear noob gear..?

Hehe. I think you're missing out on some heavy duty stamina. Is 20-30 stamina really worth gaining a minor +3dmg? As for +hit, *shrug* It's useful, I just don't believe it's a "omg I need it" type stat.

Either way, whatever works for you.

(and when linking armor profiles, they either cannot be linked or you didn't use the the "Copy this URL" above the profile since your link so does not work in either your post or the site profile info on the side. )

Re: So I wear noob gear..?

Spellstrike has some benefits. I personally will probably go for Battlecast, but there's nothing wrong with Spellstrike (It's got +hit, as I recall, and that's always welcome).

The guy who whispered you was being kinda an ***, if that's how he put it. One of the best 'locks I know was a firelock with tons of +spirit gear back around level 60. His gear looked strange to me, but he rocked the house better than I ever could.

Just goes to show that one thing the Armory can't tell you is if the player in question knows what the hell he's doing or not.

Re: So I wear noob gear..?

The battlecast is more pvp oriented because of the stamina I guess. It depends also on your build. A ruin lock will like the crit rating brouhgt by spellstrike.

'randomperson' obviously doesn't have a clue anyway ;)

I can't get that 4100 gold out of my mind...OUCH.

i think i paid 2200 for my battlecast. But it really depends on your playstyle and spec. I'm an affliction lock that likes to pvp a bit so the battlecast was right up my alley. I could easily see someone with a few points in destruction wanting the spell set.

Re: So I wear noob gear..?

I just looked at your armory profile. This is just my opinion and i don't mean to offend but your health is super low. if you replaced those 6 +9 spell damage gems with glowing nightseyes you could have an immediate 36 stamina boost.
I could see not caring if you just pve'd but you referenced an arena match at the beginning of your post. As a fellow affliction lock i feel that there is a great need for lots of stamina because we lack burst damage and have to be a little durable while we let our dots do their thing.

Thats just my 2 cents worth though =)

Re: So I wear noob gear..?

I realize my stamina is a bit on the low side, I'm trying to 'fix' that atm .
I use imp 99% of the time though (exept in arena with 2 warlocks- 1 imp 1 VW + I have imp. Imp). Big thanks to everyone who replied, I now see it's a good item but not worth the huge amount of gold ...

Quoted and bolded the important bit. As long as you are winning, who cares? That guy was just a sore loser looking for something to complain about.
