Re: weapon of choice ??

Ultimately you will be using your wand as your main weapon (when not casting) so you will never be using melee weapons. The only reason to even wield another weapon is for the stat bonuses. For that reason you will end up probably using a staff as it normally has the best caster stat bonuses.

Re: weapon of choice ??

ive actualy found that a good dagger + off-hand combo usualy gives me higher +damage

but then again that is all i care about so idk about stam or int or crit

i currently have a +121 damage dagger and a +35 damage off-hand

I aim for the dagger/1H sword + offhand combo over the staff. You can usually get around 150% more damage if you itemize smart and obly lose an unnoticable amount of HP.

Re: weapon of choice ??

I use staff and wand. i like staff better than the daggers and swords, becourse all the staffs i've seen give better bonuses than the daggers and swords i've seen. I use my wand more often, and i think the staff looks nice

Re: weapon of choice ??

As random said your wand will be the weapon you actually use to inflict damage other than your spells 99% of the time. Your melee weapon set is really for a lock or any spellslinger about the bonuses.

If you are looking for pure stat bonuses the staves will pretty much always be superior, unless you can get some very twinked epic combos. The xx staff of the eagle is pretty much always the best +sta & +int bonus you'll find a any given level bracket you can buy.

Depending on your play style and spec in the mid 30s that calculation becomes a bit more complex as you will start to see +damage (or +shadow) off-hands. Once you hit these levels you'll want to begin building your +damage levels to allow your spells to hit harder and your drains to pull more. One handed weapons + off-hands often give you the best additional +damage for the stat bonus lost ratio in the game. Just remember when comparing weapon bonuses you should compare the staff vs the sword/dagger and off-hand not just the staff vices the sword/dagger.

Re: weapon of choice ??

i have pretty much stopped using a wand at all actually. I have it on one of my toolbaras for quick equip if needed. It has a few +stats and some +damage, but i recently found that the spellstone is much more usefull for removing magic effects. the +crit it offers is just a bonus in my eyes.
