Ring of Bitter Shadows
I'm currently a level 52 afflic-lock, although I'm planning on respeccing to Demo at 55. I don't have a tremendous amount of gold lying around (in the 150 range), but I've been eying a pair of Rings of Bitter Shadows. The mats look to be pretty expensive, but I haven't seen a whole lot of rings yet, and am wearing a pair that give me a grand total of 7 spell damage, 10 stamina and maybe 5 intellect. Not bad, but not much compared with 40 shadow damage. Are quality rings just as easy to get ahold of in the Outlands as all other gear, or will I be able to hang on to a pair of these for a while?

Re: Ring of Bitter Shadows
first thing i will say is that you can only use one of the rings at a time.
So dont buy two of them or you will be out of pocket. they are uniques equiped. I have not found getting rings a problem in outlands - pleanty from quests and you might need that gold for your epic mount - which is nearly essentail in outlands given its size. riding around on a level 40 mount is quite slow and will make a big different to your questing. i am sure there are some nice rings early on in the quests and instances - personally if i would wait for those. Everything gets replaced so fast on the way to 58-70 |

Re: Ring of Bitter Shadows
other option would be to try and get the mats yourself and have one made - might be cheaper.
Its a crafted ring and the pattern is from a vendor so should be quite common. /welcome |

Yeah I'd start getting in the habit of saving gold. Think ahead to your Dreadsteed and flying mounts.

Re: Ring of Bitter Shadows
It might serve you until you get to Outland, but don't spend a fortune on it. Outland rewards will replace all of your equipment. But if you really want to spend a few gold and get yourself a shiny new set of things right at level 58,start looking for equipment in the AH with names like "...of the sorcerer","...of stamina","...of the invoker" or "...of the nightmare" which may possibly give you better stats while costing less than that ring.

Re: Ring of Bitter Shadows
Personally I like being geared at the level I am playing at. I am setting goals at each 10/15 levels and build an idea of what items are available. I focus on crafted items, quested items, instance drops or even PvP rewards as they are the most easily attainable.
I acquire gear 10 levels or so early so when I get to each level, boom - upgrade. It has been working well for me. I know a lot of people who hit outlands at 58 and had a lot of difficulty. I am hoping my gear goals will help me over that hump. I had a set of goals for 40/45 including a lot of shadoweave and some PvP rewards. It worked wonders for me. I am now working on a set of goals for 55/60 pre-outlands gear. I am finding that with this planning my gold goes a lot farther and I don't get upgrades that are really sidegrades and just a waste of money. -Tattersail |

Re: Ring of Bitter Shadows
Go for it I say....
I hit outlands broke. And my gear sucked. I'm not really sure where the gold went. But in all honesty, that bump will last 3 or 4 hours. Once I picked the shadowcast tunic or whatever it's called up, and a new staff, new wand and ... erm I was already well away. Maybe get a helping hand for the first couple of quests with good rewards.... that'll probably be easier. I hit outlands and only replaced my shadoweave shoulders when I won pauldrons of arcane rage in hellfire ramparts... Then I upgraded again 2 days later to the destroyer's mantle... And that IS representative of how outlands is. |
