Ashtongue Talisman of Shadows
I ran a quick search on this here in the forum and didnt find anything posted on it.
Ashtongue Talisman of Shadows http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...US;source=live I would like some thoughts on this trinket. I currently have: Oculus of the Hidden Eye http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...US;source=live Ancient Crystal Talisman http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...US;source=live As it stands I get a guaranteed +damage bonus with these trinkets vs a 20% chance to increase +damage by 220 each time (5 secs) corruption ticks with the Ashtongue. Now, two out of ten ticks seems like it would proc fairly often. I am not sure, however, if it is worth giving up the guaranteed bonus despite it being quite a bit lower. |

Re: Ashtongue Talisman of Shadows
There is no "best" trinket combination. I keep a variety of trinkets on my for different situations (more trinkets in my bags than any other gear). The Ashtongue Taslisman of Shadows would shine in long boss fights where you will have Corruption ticking the entire fight. Corruption ticks every 3 seconds. Each tick is a 20% chance to proc the +220 damage bonus. So on average over a lengthy fight, you will get a proc every 15 seconds lasting for 5 seconds. That's 1/3 of the fight with +220 spell damage.
220/3 = 73.3 So at first glance, Darkmoon Card: Crusade appears to be better. It provides +80 spell damage for the majority of a boss fight. However, the calculations on Ashtongue Taslisman of Shadows don't take into account that the +damage attributed to DoTs is applied when the DoT is cast. Lets say you cast a Corruption, then pop a +damage trinket such as your Ancient Crystal Talisman, then cast Unstable Affliction. UA will factor in your trinket, but Corruption won't. This means that timing your DoT castings for when you have the +220 damage buff will make your average +damage much greater than 73.3. I think it's a great trinket to have as an Affliction lock for boss fights, but because of these timing issues it would take a bit of practice and skill to use effectively. |

Re: Ashtongue Talisman of Shadows
But if what you're saying is true, it will mess up your dot rotation and that could mean some loss in dps as well. Or you can just continue with your cycle and spam SB when it procs perhaps?
