BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
So I've been playing for a few months and I'm finding that (at least at the 29 bracket) it takes forever to gain the amount of marks needed to get gear from the BG's - My question is, this char is going to be my main, is it worth doing BG's to get the gear and waste all the time going through the ordeal of running and running as opposed to just lvling and finding gear along the way - take into consideration that I don't do many instances if any, I tend to play alone, I'm in a guild (We Hung Lo) but I dont' like to ask for things etc. Right now my spec is mainly affliction = 16/5/0
Link to my char: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/ch...l%C3%A4sphemer any and all suggestions are more than welcome thanks in advance ![]() |

Re: BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
Well I played my level 29 frost mage (now level 31) a ton in the bgs. In my opinion, the ab belt and boots, and trinket are worth the grind, especially for a lock. Also as a level 29 warlock you excel in the battlegrounds, so the "grind" should be quite fun, and since you play horde (we win 80%+ of the games at least in my battle group, and the wait to enter the bgs is short) it really won't take long too long to get what you want.
Good luck!!!! ![]() |

Re: BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
The general opinion is, only acquire stuff while leveling that is fairly easy to obtain. Most of the BG stuff doesn't belong in this category.
If you happen to join a regular group and have a good activity in your battlegroup you might have a chance to get the upgrades. But since you no longer get the reputation system where you could just buy the upgrades you are forced to farm honor and tokens again every 10 levels. On the other hand, it's very nice introduction to PvP play without the full set of abilities that will give you training before you get totally frustrated trying BG after reaching 70 for the first time. If this characters is supposed to be a PvP char, go for it. You need the warlock training. But don't do it for the rewards. BTW: You can level fairly easy solo, 3 months for level 30 is considered very slow by most players. The best quest rewards require instance play, a good replacement is crafting Tailoring gear, probably one case where your guild might be of help. |

Re: BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
right now my profs are tailoring and enchanting - I try not to ask for things in the guild - I've already gone through the BGs for the 29 bracket and got all the gear from there - it just seemed like it took along time to get the gear - I've been playing for 3 months but I dont' really know how long I've been playing the lock - I'll have to check - but I knodw that it would have been a much shorter time had I not gone through the trouble of running BG's guess thats my main question

Re: BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
I was in a similar situation. Always played alone until my mid 40s. Played the bgs as soon as I would hit the last two levels allowed just so I could brush up on pvp tactics. Never redeemed any tokens until I hit 50. You can get a set of epic bracers from wsg that are quite good. You can get them at 50 and I still have them at 64. Only worry about substantial upgrades and plan on getting them as soon as you hit the level requirement. Unless you plan on just playing bgs of course. Since I'm on a pvp server, playing bgs allowed me to concentrate on certain classes to work on defeating them. Whenever I would run into problems with a class, I just grinded on them for a bit until I figured out how to defeat them. Want to fight rogues? Sit at the flag and wait. Warriors and hunters, mid field is always full of them. Casters seem to slink around the sides waiting to strike. You get the idea. Sure makes those lower levels alot easier to deal with when you have a plan and method at your disposal. Hopefully I didn't run too far off topic. hehe

Re: BG's worth the Rewards (not sure if this goes here)
Don't run BGs for equipment. Run them because you like them. They aren't really efficient for gaining equipment vs. spending the same time levelling.
I think the staff is 30 marks. I like the staff. Let's assume you win half the rounds you play, average marks per game is 2. That's 15 BGs. If WSG averages 30 mins a game, that's 7.5 hours to get the staff. At 29, if you are moving good on levelling, 7.5 hours might level you 4 levels. At higher levels, it might be a reasonable way to fill a specific slot you can't get elsewhere. The PvP Dryad wrist for level 50 is a purple and a keeper since wrist slot is hard to fill anyhow. The boots give a run boost which is good for kiting. The trinkets are unique and I find helpful. More math: if it takes 5 BG hours to get a 20 mark item that is useful for 10 levels... Say I average 5 hours a level; that is 50 hours. So to be an efficient use of time, that item would have to improve my levelling by 10%? Doesn't seem likely. |
