I don't like random drops!
Hello, actually, I do like them, when I am soloing and get some BoE rare or epic, but my point is a different one: I only "plan" my gear improvement with items, I *know* I will get. There has been too much drop table conspiracy, too much loot drama as I could really rely when I plan progress. I think I would have 4/5 Oblivion but I pass/greed all the time. I stick with stuff I *know* I will get, just like: - Quest rewards - Crafting (myself or let others so) - Heroic Tokens - Reputation Rewards - PvP Honor - Arena Points For me, this is much more rewarding than running some instance for the 827th time to get my last piece of gear. I used 1-2 pieces of drop loot in the last months but only for short. If the game would be changed to only drop tokens of dozens of kinds, I would be the first to agree with that. This is only related to BoP drops, not for the BoE thing actually. BoE rolling is also always greed in my opinion ...Does someone agree? neej |

Re: I don't like random drops!
I don't know. I don't really run an instance over and over (not in a short time anyway) untill I get what I want. But when I do get what I want I feel rather happy. I never get too upset if I lose a roll. Unless let's say a Warrior would roll on a cloth item (I saw it happen to a friend of mine. Warrior rolling on Dreadmist robe)

I agree 100%, I never take random drops into account when planning upgrades, it saves a bunch of headaches. -Gritz |

Re: I don't like random drops!
I only really plan for using rep rewards and quest items and such. The only loot drops that I'm rabid about is the dang dreadmist pants and robe: I want to complete my Dungeon Set 2 quest chain, dangit! |

Re: I don't like random drops!
Heh if you dont like planning your upgrades based on random drops I guess that you dont raid much do you... I have a whole thread on my guilds website where I list out all my next upgrades for each slot so the other locks know what i'll be bidding on |

Re: I don't like random drops!
Actually, I don't raid a lot, but that's not the point: I feel free to bid when something drops but I never know if my item will show up in the next weeks, so I cannot plan like with other ways of obtaining items. Planning on chance is just weird, and will result in feeling frustrated if the /random mechanism in WoW works "against" me. Even the "multi-class" Karzhan tokens appear to be non-sufficient, as it's not for all classes, but for 3, so with a 10 person raid you will get situations with 7/10 people with gloves and the wrong token dropping. Avoidable, I think. Why didn't they just have one token for all classes after all? |

Re: I don't like random drops!
well then it would be back to pre BC where there were seperate teir drops for each class. this would mean it takes longer to get the epics you want since theres more of them, and the one you want drops less often. I quite like the idea of 3 classes sharing one item token because it means you can gear out your guild's lesser geared players more easily |

Re: I don't like random drops!
I do similar things but I only exclude BOE world drops from my planning. I do allow for known instance drops from bosses since N runs with my guild should net me the item. In case of bad luck though I always spec out an alternative for such slots. Regarding tokens, shrug. To balance that they would make each item take between 10 and 100 tokens. That could get annoying. I do like lucky drops sometimes. -Tattersail |

Rittsyn's Pendant is one reason why I love random drops. |

Re: I don't like random drops!
I try to never plan around a specific item dropping, in gearing up. I'm still in the "Get rid of the last few good greens and crappy blues" stage of gearing up, so that might just be me. But every upgrade I have planned is either a quest reward/rep reward or a crafted item. But.. there's nothing appealing to me about running an instance fourteen times in the hopes that maybe THIS TIME those damn shoulders will drop off the first boss. (hehe.. a mage in my guild is doing that. poor bastard.)
