Socket Recomendation
Well i hit level 70 last night im currently looking on using my lock for mainly pvp then arena eventuly after i finish getting some more gear now i have been told by many that SL/SL that it is the way to go but i want to stick with affliction to what i like. I'm a little unsure though on socketing my gear should i loose my socket bonus and go for more stamina and be able to match upto a meta gem bonus? Here is my profile any tips would be greatly appreciated Thanks http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...&n=Spl%C3%AEff |

Re: Socket Recomendation
socket only the gear you are actually going to use for a long time. Since you just hit 70, i dont assume you are full on best pvp / pve gear yet. ( unless you took your time getting everything up aswell ). When you have waay to much cash, you can of course socket, but if you are going to relace soon anyways, i would see it a waste. I now have the first 2 parts of gladiator dread set, and am sockething those. The other gear i am trying to replace within a month or so, so wont socket that. pvp i assume BG ( and then arena., wich is also pvp ). In arena SL/SL is way to go ( i hear and read anyways ) but for bg thats not per definition true. ( not in my opinion anyways ). First specialise in bg, if that is what you wish to do, and get the proper gear. You can lay out what you want to get when, and go for it. You will also know what stats you want to upgrade further, and can socked ahead, or just socket in between and resocket when you get the complete set. ( with socketing ahead i mean, you already know how much res / stam / damage you will have with the endgoal items, and can stack more of what you will need by then. More stam / res etcetera. Even tough that is the cheapest way ( no resocketing ) it does mean you might not have the optimal in between stats, but i doubt the difference is to big to notice ( especially BG ) Doing arena is a whole diff story tough, since in bg you have a lot of flexibility in both build and playstyle, arena's kinda force yer hand beceause those fights are waaay more specific and focussed.

Here are the only gems you will need until Wrath of the Lich King: PvE: Blue (only for +damage or +Hit socket bonuses; Meta Gem activation): Glowing Nightseye Red: Runed Living Ruby, Veiled Noble Topaz Yellow: Veiled Noble Topaz, Great Dawnstone PvP: Blue: Glowing Nightseye, Solid Star of Elune, Steady Talasite Red: Runed Living Ruby, Glowing Nightseye Yellow: Mystic Dawnstone, Steady Talasite That's it! Re: Socket Recomendation
For PvP: Unless you're a JC, put Glowing Nightseye in all your red sockets (a mid-priced gem). Put Steady Talasite in all of your blue sockets (the lowest-price cut you can find, usually). After you hit 12k hp, put Mystic Dawnstone (mid-priced) in your yellow sockets. Until then, use the Steady Talasite. If you manage to max your resilience (500), you can start putting Solid Star of Elune (mid-to-high priced) in your blue sockets and Runed Living Ruby (high price) in your red sockets. If you're a JC, use the blue and red BoP Unique-Equipped gems (+stam, + sp damage) first, then socket the rest as above. Your goal is 12k hp, 450+ resilience, and as much spell damage as you can muster. Note: If you don't have the cash right away or you plan on replacing gear quickly, you can substitute the lower-level gems (Glowing Shadow Draenite, Solid Azure Moonstone, Runed Blood Garnet). |

Gemming, Scarlet Sin'dorei Robes
Meh I would still be ok with input, but I went ahead with: 2x Veiled Nobel Topez 1x Glowing Nightseye ---can prlly ignore this as--- Well since my other thread got closed(I understand why), I am reposting this request here.... I am wondering how people are geming the below robes. I recently got them and I don't know if I should go for the +5dam socket bonus and if so, what gems do people tend to go with? Right now I am kinda fresh 70 so +hit and +dam are my lowest stats, crit is ~20%TT I am more of a fan of gearing for +hit than gemming, but if in the long run that makes sense I will Scarlet Sin'dorei Robes Mostly I want to see how others are gemming these. P.s. I find this forum overly complex and I still love the info I find in it. Last edited by capmcnasty; April 28, 2008 at 06:27 PM.. Reason: Added what gems I bought |
