What to put in a Yellow Socket?

Part of the guide I am putting together, this will be the final "what gem do I get" thread if it's for a yellow socket. ALL questions, assistance and discussions for gems in yellow sockets is to go in this thread please.

Straight +Spell Crit Rating
  • Blood of Amber +12 Spell Crit
This beauty is only accessible to Jewelcrafters. The design is available from the The Sha'tar quartermaster once revered reputation is obtained. Note the gem also states it is "Unique-Equipped" which means you can only have one of these gems equipped at a time. You can carry or socket as many as you like, but you may only wear one of them. Yellow Gem.

  • Gleaming Ornate Dawnstone +10 Spell Crit
For those happy to do a little PvP, this is available for 6,885 honor points. This gem is is "Unique-Equipped" which means you can only have one of these gems equipped at a time. Yellow Gem.

  • Gleaming Dawnstone +8 Spell Crit
Purchasable from your local jewel crafter or Auction house, they can set you back a little or a lot depending on your server. Yellow Gem.

  • Gleaming Golden Draenite +6 Spell Crit

+Spell Crit and Stamina
  • Polished Chrysoprase +5 Spell Crit, +6 Stamina
Chance to drops in heroic mode Shattered Halls, from any of the bosses. WoWhead has it at 6-7% drop rate however, so you might be running it a lot to get one. Patch 2.4 will see this gem lose the "Unique-Equipped" tag. Green Gem

  • Unstable Talasite +4 Spell Crit, +4 Stamina
Every two hours the Skyguard just north of Ogri'la attack an Ethereum camp in the northern portion of the zone. If you defend the Skyguard NPC's working on the machine for a set period of time, a vendor becomes available that will sell you this for the cost of 40 x Apexis Shard's. The shards are dropped from mobs in Blades Edge Mountain, as well as rewards for quests. See the comment from Patze for more info. Green Gem

  • Notched Deep Peridot +4 Spell Crit, +3 Stamina
For this gem (and the Alliance equivalent), you need to take part in the World PvP activities in Hellfire Peninsula. Once you have 10 x Marks, you can see your respective PvP Officer in Honor Hold or Thrallmar. Green Gem
