how much haste makes a difference

I'm maxed out on spell hit so I will be stacking spell damage and hopefully some haste gems on any new ger I get.

Exactly how much haste will you need in order for it to make a difference?

Right now with Bane my SB cast is 2.5 seconds. When my blade of wizardry procs my cast goes down to 2.1 seconds. But thats a whole 280 haste proc to get a .4 second reduction

I plan to get get some haste gems but there is a snowballs chance in hell that I could stack 203 spell hit AND also 200+ haste. Just now enough slots to do something like that.

I know you must have searched....and the answers are in there.... The Warlocks Den Forums Basically, while haste does scale supremely well I consider the smallest useful amount to be in the region of 2% - .1s off most cast times - thats 42 haste rating off the top of my head.

Re: how much haste makes a difference

My Sbolts are down to 2.34 cast time (about 100 haste) and I've noticed a nice increase in dps. I want more but it's hard remaining at the hit cap, so I'll say shoot for around 80-100 should go a long way. But note, if you have lag or run wow on an older computer, all the benefits from haste are going right out the phone cord you use for dial up.

For PvP I have 130ish haste and I've noticed a giant increase in productiveness. I'm able to get fears off faster as well as wind up a deadly shadowbolt/shadowburn combo to finish people off. When I ran around w/ 0 haste those things were much harder.

Re: how much haste makes a difference

How exactly is shadowburn going to matter to haste(yes yes haste does reduce gcd to 1 sec if you have enough but not my point)? Shadowbolt doesn't set off gcd so you can always immediately shadowburn.

deadly shadowbolt/shadowburn
I had lots of problems winding up a shadowbolt in PvP w/ 0 haste due to pushbacks/spell locks outs, ect. With 130 haste it seems I can get off the shadowbolt (and the shadowburn right after it) a lot more often to finish people off, but that's just from my exp.

Re: how much haste makes a difference

with that much haste you're still prob around a 2.3 second cast compared to a 2.5. I would say you may have more had a bit of skill/luck increase if anything and then the marginal help from the haste. Haste probably would only have any real use in 2v2 where it's mostly a "who can kill who the fastest" whereas in 3v3 and 5v5 it's a "where's the lock kill him now and move on"

Re: how much haste makes a difference

I have anywhere from 154-250 haste - my only problem is when I spam sbs I am out of mana so damn fast. AFTER my first mana pool is gone I pop one mana pot and then began the life tap ritual. Kinda sucks, but I guess it beats the wanding that a mage has to do when they run out.

I think my Sbs are around 2.25 sec per cast.

There are many answers in the posts/threads, and none have struck me as definative. So many varying opinions - I am more confused than before I started to research for the answer. I guess we will never really have the answer. Although I am leaning towards haste, as the T6 and equivalent loot tends to have haste on them.

Re: how much haste makes a difference

Well the definitive answer (or as close to definitive as possible) is simply to determine what haste is worth as a stat on an individual level. As for the minimum level? I'd definately go with the smallest concrete reduction in case time, or around 42 haste.

I think
