Shadoweave?

OK guys im a total forum newb so if this is the wrong place to ask this please let me know. But anyways i was wondering if it is best the wear the shadoweave set at level 44 or should i be using something else? I currently have the entire set but i also have made the robe of power and red mageweave items. Im just really confused about what i should be wearing to get the best results? Thank you for any help

Re: Shadoweave?

I didn't really go with a plan when I was levelling but as a 100% demo lock at those levels I focused primarily on gear that gave me a 50/50 split on int and stam. It worked fairly well for me. Given the speed at which people level these days I wouldn't spend a whole lot of gold on gear until you reach the higher levels. From my high 30's to mid 50's most of my gear was "...of the Eagle" gear which worked great.

I'm not a gear expert by any means so others might have better advice, but I flew through the 30-60 phase so quickly that spending any money on gear would have been a waste. It was more efficient for me to save it up for my epic mount quest parts.

Re: Shadoweave?

Like the above poster said you are not wearing gear long enough for it to really matter anymore unless you plan on twinking out at x9 level. If you have it on wear it until something else comes along with better stats. I would not spend any gold on gear unless I could buy it really cheap.
Give Canadianpimps gear guide a read,Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition).

Re: Shadoweave?

I used almost the entire shadoweave set untill level 60. At first it lacks HP but as you level that eases with each level. It's kind of a catch 22 in that you need enough HP to survive but the faster you can take a mob out the less HP you need to make living a reality.

Personally I wouldn't use the robe of power or any of the red mageweave items, you're giving up too much damage and although it IS nice to have more base INT and or SPI it's just not worth giving up damage for it. The only two stats I'd really worry about at your level are STA and +damage. STA can be turned into mana which can be turned into damage which can be turned back into health for a warlock. The more +damage you have the better it leverages your STA. You'll be ending fights with full or close to full mana and health in no time.

With odds and ends I picked up along the way I think I was able to get over +250 shadow damage in my 50s but as has been said it's not worth spending gold unless the item is a SERIOUS upgrade and then only if the item is really really cheap.

Get your butt to outland ASAP and whatever you do DON'T buy outland greens to gear up before you get there. The stuff seriously drops like rain in a rain forest not to mention the quest rewards out there are AWESOME.

Just one newb 70 locks opinion...

To go to the "level too fast to matter" point. I just noticed that I joined this forum on June 27, 2008 and was level 66 then. I've been doing very little questing and mostly farming mats to level tailor and I dinged 70 yesterday. That's 4 levels in 14 days doing almost nothing but grinding cloth.

Re: Shadoweave?

IMO Shadoweave totally owns. It gives you Stamina, Intellect and Shadow Damage, just too bad it doesn't give more Stamina.
But seriously, if you Drain Tank with your Imp out you will get Blood Pact anyway, so Shadow Damage will be more important. Just what it gives. Around level 60 (the point I respec to Felguard) you will go to Outland, with uber quest rewards so you can replace the Shadoweave gear.
Another Tailoring set worth mentioning during levelling is the Netherweave set. It gives you just the two things a Warlock needs most: Stamina and Spell Damage. No Intelligence, I know, but we have Life Tap anyway. In total this set gives you 204 (!) Stamina, very nice IMO for a levelling clothie.

So my advice: pick up Tailoring, use the Shadoweave, and later the Netherweave set. And eventually Frozen Shadoweave of course... something you just can't miss when going PvE with your lock. Tailoring was simply made for Warlocks ;).

Re: Shadoweave?

I would second, or third, or what ever number we're on. I'm about the same level as you and I've been equiping the shadoweave gear as I went, the extra shadow damage really shines, and like others have said it will last for another 10-15 levels at least.

Re: Shadoweave?

I agree with all the other posts. But that said I too enjoyed trying to equip the best I could at each level. I probably spent more than I should have, but have been leveling my skills with my toon, and tailoring was made for lock's.

Shadoweave then Netherweave and fill in from drops guided of course by CanadianPimp, the uber gear meister.
