socketing merc gear
I just got my merc gladiator's dread robe. I'm just wondering what gems I should be looking at for the robe (1 red 2 yellow), as well as the whole set. I am deep affliction, and this is my first pvp set. I have done almost entirely pve raiding prior to this so I don't have a lot of experience. Any advice would be really great, thnx

Re: socketing merc gear
I suppose it depends upon the rest of your gear to some extent, but I personally would probably put either the (green) gems with stam/resil or the (yellow) gem with just resil in the yellow slots, and (red)spell damage or (purple) spell damage/stam in the red slot.

Re: socketing merc gear
Generally one thing I've noticed is that PvP has much more ideal gem slots allowing you to gem effectively whilst retaining the right stats and getting the socketing bonus.
Judging from your profile I presume you are going for the full set, luckily because of how the slows are made out you can use the right colours which in this case get the 8 Resil gems for the yellow slots and the 12 Spell Damage for the red slots or if you're a bit low on hp then the Stam/Resil green gems and Spell/Stam in the red slot. When you get the helm for the Meta Gem theres 2 options: The one you can get from the Spirit shards which offers 12 spell damage and minor run speed increase. Or you could go for the one that gives 15 Stamina and 5% stun resist... right now I have the 12 spell damage but I'll be changing to the Stam one mostly because as a Lock you have a lot of trouble with Stun Locks. |
