Talioring for 69-70 Affliction Lock

I've put together the following list of items that are craftable for 69-70, I'm a mid 60s Affliction Lock and plan to try to get as much crafted stuff by the day I hit 70 as possible.

My main is a Prot Pally Engineer with a Mote Extrator and Mining, so Primals are fairly easy to grind. Also a friend has a end game tailoring lock that they are not using their cooldowns on, so I am reaping those benefits to get mats twice as fast.

My assumption is that I will make the Shadow's Embrace first. I will make (or more realistically have someone make with my mats) the Spellstrike Infusion next and do the same with other items on the list below. Anything I'm missing from the list? Any items more desirable than others (due to being able to purchase alternatives with honor or gold)?

Goal is to have the best crafted stuff I can, the day I ding 70 with focus on Heroics and Raiding (and working on a second set for PvP).

Re: Talioring for End Game Affliction Lock

You've put a lof of effort in so I have to ask...did you see this thread? ;

Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition) - The Warlocks Den Forums

Every question you'll ever have about gear answered with links and gem/enchant choices thrown into the mix.

Girdle of Ruination - Don't bother with that as the Belt of Blasting is clearly superior.

Bracers of Nimble thought or potentially the S3 PvP bracers are rather good.

If you're going to pvp, craftables aside it REALLY is worth picking up the Blue Rep-based armour. Its not got as much +damage, but it DOES have resilience to stop you getting insta-gibbed whenever a rogue decides you're an easy kill.

Yes that was where I started actually, great guide - lots of useful info in there.

But my question is very specific, the best gear for a 70 affliction lock day 1 given I will have access to a lot of tailoring material. i.e. what's the best bang for the buck and what *Order* should I craft it i.e. I wont have limitless material, so after the two sets I named, what would be the best next item to craft, after that, etc...

FSW and Belt Of Blasting + Spellstrike + Bracers of Havok would be the way to go. Prince drops a really good cape and the haste stuff is not good until the end of T6.

Also you can buy really good resilience gear with badges now.

Its the same gear for the most part - which is why I refered you back to the guide

You've got most of it, just enchant the pieces you have as I noted in the other thread you started and re-gem a couple of pieces - you'll be fine. If you really need to establish an order just go from the highest +damage upgrade to the lowest....you're already over the hit cap and crit, while nice to have, isn't as relevant.

Re: Talioring for End Game Affliction Lock

Save some time, mats and money by just grinding some honor for the Vindicator's Silk Cuffs which are ace for PVE and PVP, much better than the Bracers of Havok for PVE and much better than the Unyeilding Bracers for PVP. I know you were talking about crafted gear but really, those bracers are a much better solution and will save you bag slot by not needing to change for PVP/PVE. You can grind honor on the way to 70, you'll just die a lot - and the bracers will be waiting for you to pick up the day you ding

I'd also skip Cloak of the Black Void. It's overrated and there are loads of cloaks you can pick up very cheaply/easily. 2 cloaks in Kara are better, normal MgT has a better cloak, etc. You can even get the Torn-Heart Cloak from a quest reward which only has 8 spell damage less, or get the Sergeant's Heavy Cape for around 7k honor - it will be good for PVP and PVE and with the FSW-SS-BoB set-up having little stamina the cape will give you a bit of a boost in that area.

I have searched a lot and get pretty confused, but what is a lock to do if she is not a tailor and does not wish to drop any professions?

Spellstrike has a lot of damage and you wont get the set bonus but you can have it crafted for you its BOE. Socket it with +12 spell damage gems and your gonna be happy. Same with BoB. SO the only thing you gotta worry about is boots/chest/shoulders. And thats where you'll wanna get some badges saved up. Also if you dont have badges yet cause your a fresh 70, Imbued Netehrweave set is an ok starter for aff locks and it is also BOE and pretty cheap. Try gettin into heroics like SP (theres a decent pair of boots) HMGT (Robe/dagger/shoulders). There are options out there although none will put out quite as much damage as FSW.

Re: Talioring for End Game Affliction Lock

Thank you Balroq, I have heard of the spellstrike items. They are insane on mats. But I suppose it is better than nothin. I do have about 26 Badges saved up and my guild is lovingly taking me through Kara, but we never ever make it past Curator. I am actually in Imbued Netherweave unless I found something better, so it is a start. Does PvP gear have anything worthwhile to save up for?

If you're a fresh 70, grind instances for the Oblivion or Mana-Etched sets, collecting and saving mats for the Spellstrike set and Belt of Blasting.

Also, once you're settled in heroics, start saving badges and farm MgT for the chest/shoulders/back that drops in there.

(Use Candian Pimp's gear guide. I followed it and had 1100 shadow / 202 hit without setting foot in Kara)
