Boots of Blasting or Incantations

I bought the badge Boots of Incantations and a few hours later the patt for blasting dropped for me. I was wondering which I should use. I'm destro.

Blasting:
+25 Stamina
+25 Intellect
Durability 50 / 50
Requires Level 70
Equip: Improves spell hit rating by 18 (1.43% @ L70).
Equip: Improves spell critical strike rating by 25 (1.13% @ L70).
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 39.

Incantations:
+37 Stamina
+26 Intellect
+23 Spirit
Yellow Socket -- Gemmed with Veiled Noble Topaz (4 hit, 5 damage)
Socket Bonus: +2 Spell Damage and Healing
Durability 50 / 50
Requires Level 70
Equip: Improves spell hit rating by 17 (1.35% @ L70).
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 47.

My unbuffed specs are:
damage: 926
Shadow damage: 1037
Hit: 202
Crit: 20.76%

I put it into Leulier's (sp?) spreadsheet and the damage is identical, but maybe the extra stam and spirit on incantations are worth it...

its basicly 15 spell damage vs 25 crit(since you are hit capped). do you know what you need more of?

Probably go with Boots of Blasting because of the nice lump of Crit but it's a minor upgrade for you right now. Is it worth the money/grind for the mats and enchant if you change?

If the damage is identical, try juggling round some gems to see if you can even make the boots of incantation come out ahead by 1dps....has to be worth a shot

I hate it when this happens... you spend a ton of badges or honor on something and then you finally get the drop you've needed.

I'd keep both around... spirit is going to be more useful in Wrath of the Lich King and the crit is probably more useful to you now as a destro lock.

You can look at CPimps gear guide or the guide to badge loot, both are pretty good boots.

But honestly, you might want to think outside the box on this one and be a little selfless about it since both boots are so similar.

If I were you, I'd help a guildie out who is a fellow tailor/spell caster and get him or her that recipe for some discount or free (if you know that person is really loyal to the guild) part of guild good will as it will help the raiding of your whole guild. Or if no one fits that bill yet, just keep it in your bank and you may find someone a worthy friend to give or trade the recipe to.

I am always a little surprised more people don't bring this up as an option.

More people should help each other out in guilds when something they get is such a marginal upgrade. If you raid with someone else frequently, and these boots upgrade their damage potential more than yours, your doing yourself a big favor by spreading good will since your entire raid will benefit from your selflessness.

I am also a little surprised you bothered buying the incantation boots with badges though unless you have already gotten other badge gear.

If you are a tailor, coming by recipes especially BoE ones you can buy for gold is easier than coming by badges. I can farm a couple thousand gold sooner than I can farm the badges but maybe that is because of my sparse playing frequency.

With that said, it took me a month of search the AH to see someone selling the blasting boots recipe, so I can fully understand wanting to buy the badge boots. But knowing ahead of time that I could get the recipe as a drop or buying on AH definitely made boots of incantation one of the lowest priority badge gear things for me to buy.

Since you are destro and you have low crit I would go for the Boots of blasting. However, your armory link would tell me more than your stats about what to recommend. The boots of Incantations might be good if they let you stack more crit elsewhere (the badge chest comes to mind.)

HOWEVER, the dps difference between the two is less than 1 dps, use either.

Yeah, as I said, in the lock spreadsheet I get 1643 for both boots, using the Hybrid destro spec. I guess my question is whether the sheet factors in for crit. Like does that theoritical 1643 consider the % of crit. My understanding was that it did...

My logic to keep Incantations was that if the damage is the same, I'd benefit from the extra stamina and spirit, which will both contribute to my mana pool (stam via life tap).

If I used BoB then I'd be 3 hit points short of 202 so I'd have to make that up. Probably not to hard getting +5 hit, +6 damage gems from mech and switching them for the 3 veiled noble topazs I have. I also have some +haste +stam gems which I really just bought cus they were cheap, and probably aren't ideal for me at this stage.

The spreadsheet does factor in Crit so if there is no advantage in making the Boots of Blasting then don't bother, stick with you Incantations. I also agree with what the above poster said, see if another guildie needs the Boots of Blasting and give it to them. My guess is you won't be running SSC for very long (not many guilds farm SSC these days) so by the time you are ready to upgrade the Slippers of the Seacaller will be avilable to you (drop off first boss in BT). Plus it'll up your rep with the guild a little bit which is never a bad thing.
