spellfire set bonus vs belt of blasting

Im rolling a "firelock" this go around for the heck of it. Im wondering if when i get to 70 is the spellfire set bonus (damage increased up to 7% of total intellect) worth not breaking up the set, opting for BoB instead. I love BoB on my main shadow dest lock, it rocks! But just wondering if anyone who has this set as a firelock would break up the set to have BoB. I know it depends on alot of things related to hit especially but im just throwing it out there....not to 70 yet so not sure what my stats will be just yet.....my main lock has around 440 intel = around 9188 mana...so the 7% would be about 31 extra damage bonus. Just throwin numbers out there so you guys can see the damage diffrence on the set bonus...thanks in advance.

WoW Warlock DPS Spreadsheet

Run the numbers through the spreadsheet and see what it says - its not a question I can recall being asked so I might just do it myself and see what happens

*wanders off*

Interesting.

I loaded up the Karazhan/Tailoring gearset with a 21/40 Fire build and added in the S4 Haste Neck, S3 Bracers, Spellfire Set, Flametounge seal, Boots of Blasting and Fel-tinged Mantle - everything else stayed the same. Added in Veiled Pyrestones until hit capped, then threw Reckless Pyrestones into the other sockets and its telling me thats worth 1638 dps (+40 damage on the MH weapon choice rather than Sunfire).

Nice.

Ok, added the BoB instead of the Spellfire Belt and the DPS dropped to 1620 initially but of course I was way over hitcap so I threw in more reckless pyrestones until I got back down to 202 - at which point the predicted DPS was 1641.

So there you go - you can play with the gear until you get something more indicative of your starting load-out but my results said its a DPS gain.....my advice would be to run a few trials yourself and see what you get.

Re: spellfire set bonus vs belt of blasting

wow...it is a gain but not by much. Super fast response and well laid out, thanks!! I guess the only diffrence would be do you want either +18 intellect on the spellfire belt or an overall dps gain of 3....id almost stick with the set because its gimped as it is on stam/intel. This is the only reason id see to stick with the set
