+damage and Outland
I've been Aff specced from day 1, up to level 56, at which point I respecced to demo. I didn't really like the Felguard playing style, so I went back to Aff.
Before the first respec, my 3 insta-dots (SL, Curse of Agony, Corr) were enough to kill equal level mobs, the point being that I could just run around spamming these and kill huge amounts, aided by liberal amounts of Dark Pact-ing and the occasional drain life. Now, at level 61, the first mob I dot up will die, because I can add UA, but any others don't unless I stop to cast UA. So I guess my question is: how much +damage do I need to be able to dot, dot, dot, forget? Or even better, how much do I need so that I dot up a load, iHoT, and they're mostly dead by the time they come running back? Thanks ![]() |

Re: +damage and Outland
I don't think there is a definitive answer to that question really. I found some mobs went down fairly easy while others are just a PITA. Some mobs seem to have an insane amount of HP for their level in OL.

Re: +damage and Outland
I went through the same problem with Demo and Affliction.
I do not know the magic number, but I currently have 888 +damage and it seems like more than enough if I include UA on each target. I play it a slightly different way than you do, I basically use my VW as a soak (and to keep agro while I dot stuff up) and use Shadow Burn / shadow bolt as a finisher when they're on their way to me. Typically mobs die with ticks left on all my dots. I also try to sneak a soul siphon in at the last second for the mana refund. |

Re: +damage and Outland
There really isn't a distinct number and realistically it isn't a good idea to level like that in outland. Sure you can pull 2-3 at a time and be okay but anything more than that (that isn't green) and you asking to be run over flat. I lvled up to 55 affliction and then spec. demo and lvled to 70 as demo. Even at 70 with 1.1k +dam. I am can't just dot up mobs with instants and run away.

Re: +damage and Outland
Back when i was an herblist i used to do something similar on the bog lords etc in zangar. However, you cannot pump up the damage on your dots enough to single dot kill most anything with only your 3 instants until you are in t5ish gear. The only answer is to reapply and keep running. I had about 600-700+damage right before i hit 70.

Re: +damage and Outland
With 1000 shadow damage, most mobs die with just Curse of Agony, Corr and SL... unless you go kill level 71 elementals. When in trouble cast a iHoT and they will be dead by the time they get to you.
