Airman's Ribbon of Gallantry vs Xi'ri's Gift

Just got exalted with the Shatari Skywing, so i got this new trinket. I know CP's guide has the Airman trinket ranked alot lower and i was curious as to why?

The airman has 34 crit and passively adds 80 damage for 30 sec when it procs. Can't proc more than once every 10 sec so there is 20 seconds for a timer refresh.

Xiri's add's 32 crit and increases damage by 150 for 10 sec with a 1 1/2 min cooldown.

Why is Xi'ri's considered better?

Because the proc part from the Ribbon is useless in most boss fights, unless it's one with a lot of adds that give experience or honor (most boss adds don't). With xi'ri's gift you can use it during a boss fight and you can also control when you use it (if you're getting too high on aggro and shatter is on CD, the extra damage is not too helpful).

Okay lets be more specific then. I wouldn't even use it on bosses. Just trash and for grinding/dailes etc.

For Boss fights i use Scryers gem to get hit capped and the crusade card.



So for non boss stuff which is better?

i doubt it matters for PVE much, unless youre on a killing rampage - the the airmans medal may be good for something ...

For the ribbon you actually have to deal the killing blow; therefore, the only time I consider it better is if you are grinding solo or other situations where you deal many of the killing blows.

I usually use the ribbon for solo grinding/farming. Saves me having to activate the trinket every 1.5 minutes, and the extra damage is nice, but not entirely necessary.

before i got scryers bloodgem to help w/ hitcap, I always used Ribbon when farming or raid trash. I always had luck for it to proc every 2-3 kills. I would switch to xiri's gift for the boss fight tho.
